Post Want Nitrous Need Advice

I want to get nitrous on my MY99. My friend recently blew up cylinder 3 on his SiR motor, so im kinda sketchy about it. What is the maximum shot that I can get with out blowing up my motor? Also what is the best and safest kit on the market in your opinion.

It all depends on how you use the nitros. You can be stupid and use it all the time or you can use it when your racing or for street racing. But I would personal go with a 65 shot. You really don't need anything more. Know if your goin with a strait drag car then go higher but just go with 65 and don't hit your rev limiter a lot when your useing it.. I think the best you can get is the NOS kit...

No I mean tachometer. If you hit that when you are spraying then your fuel cuts off and you are still spraying air and nitrous in the motor and no fuel then when the fuel comes on BAM!!! melt down.It 's becouse you have no fuel in the cylinder and then when the fuel comes in you have to much nitros and air and it's way to lean then you case melt down..

Xscreamer,

About your friend. Was the kit just put on his SiR and he was running it a lot the day he got it put on? I just heard a story about some dude in PA ruining his SiR because of this. He was constantly running the NOS he just got installed and he messed up his engine pretty bad.

Yea that was problem my friend if the car was a Red Honda Hatchback. He was just running a NOS fully ajustible kit for a eclipse i think. I think he just miss shifted and that took care of his cylinder pretty good. He has the car runnin again but at the expense of a new SiR motor. Unfortunaly I hope that Zex is a little safer because that was im plannin on goin with at the 55 shot.

well if someone has a 5 speed, then nitrous would be no problem....since it injects at WOT and you let of the gas to shift

unfortunately, i have a auto and when i went to talk to a fellow about the nitrous, the same question came up....

of course i also have a rpm module that only injects nos between 3000 and 6000 rpm, but i dont know what the shift points are in the RS so i dont know weather or not i should buy another chip to knock it down to 5500 rpm...

any advice..

thanks,
space

Cool

Xscreamer, you can email my brother-in-law if you want, he has nitrous on his Miata. He is a real research-and-engineering type guy who doesn't just bolt something on his car. I'm sure he can steer you in the right direction. Try him at sloercher@juno.com
There are some pictures of the nitrous install on his web site: http://www.homestead.com/mongrelms/mx5.html
