Default The Subaru wave is hard to do

So this is something that has been bothering me for a while:

Every time I see a fellow Subaru owner on the road (Ok, maybe not every time, but whevever I see a WRX or 2.5RS, or maybe some other type of Subaru that's tricked out. You know, just people that look like enthusiants) I try to give them the "Subaru wave". the problem that I have is that usually one of four things happens:

1) I try to wave with my arm out the window. Unfortunately at speed it if fairly difficult to create anythign that even looks remotely like a wave against all of the wind resistance. It usually just looks like I'm "hand surfing" or something.

2) I wave from in the car. It's hard to see a hand waving inside the car and the other person doesn't see it.

3) No matter what I do, the other owner doesn't notice me because my car is an inconspicuous silver (good for when cops are around, bad for when other people are around, especially the honeys)

4) Other person sees the wave but has no clue that they are driving a Subaru, or that I am driving a Subaru, or that they are supposed to wave back, or whatever

The wave has really been letting me down lately. Does it work for you guys?

Most of the time it works, with impreza owners. So long as they notice, they usually wave back.

Most don't wave back up here. I've even got a few angry looking faces by waves, like when I had my old GT, didn't notice at first some older guy was driving one of the same model it because of sun and once I saw him he was looking all mad that I noticed his car or had one that looked like his or whatnot.

Only had a few people wave ever.

I would assume that that is because your average L driver (certainly not ALL L drivers though) isn't an enthusiast and wouldn't be likely to wave back.

Anyone who would wave should think my car not the average L... CF RS hood, lowered, HSK Carbon Ti... and a nice lil whoosh noise.

I've gotten waves from Neons, Evos and WRXs... the vast majority of the time I'm not looking and don't notice until it's too late for me to wave. They probably all think i'm a jerk for not waving back.

You'd have to be driving pretty fast for a wave to be that difficult outside your window... and I haven't had any problems not seeing a wave from inside. My only problem is people never even looking my way to see a wave.

Well, I like to get good arm extension WAY out the window for my waves. That puts my hand right into the jetstream.

The Subaru Wave works here in Indy, I get a lot more Biker Waves when I'm on my motorcycle from other bikers though.

The WRX Wave =

I'm usually late at waving back so don't take offense only because I have my window up most of the time and end up smacking my hand against the glass.

Usually around 9:30 I will take a spin down Lake Shore Drive, all the time i see wrx's, I wave and mostly I get the look but no wave.
Sometimes I even get the "tough guy" look.
Maybe it's the "I am too cool in the city factor".

Funny that the bigger tools are driving bone stock.

You wouldn't happen to be one of the silver wrx's on pontiac trail this last week? I have seen a silver GC RS, a silver 04 wrx and a silver 02-3 wrx all this week both comming and going to work.

I try to give a wave to any Impreza that I see, don't let it get you down, if they wave you know that they are a true enthusiast. My $.02.

Didn't know anyone but Jeep owners waved. I guess I'll start with the next Baja I see, won't get tired from that, I think I'm the only one around Madison.

i used to wave to wrx's...used to get reciprocated too...but since i moved back to chicago, wrx's are a lot more common and so no more waves. I will give a salute or a thumbs up to an STi or an Evo tho...STi guys usually wave back...not Evo guys tho.

i always wave when i'm on my scoot (even to guys on crotch rockets) and i almost always get a wave back (except from guys on crotch rockets). but the biker wave is different then a car wave...you bikers out there know what i'm talking about...

Every time I see WRXs, they wave, at least all bugeyes. The only scoobies that don't wave are the Foresters and Impreza GTs driven by soccer moms.

Whenever i see a fellow impreza driver i try to wave but it's usually at intersections, and 1. they are not paying attention or 2. they have illegal tint all the way around and cat tell if they're looking at me or 3. they arent looking at me when I go by. The few times I -have- waved and been seen they dont know to wave back.

Most of the imprezas in my area arent on this board. I only know of 1.
