Question Plastic trim looks like it peeling/fading

the trim on my 03 baja looks like its fading. The trim im talking about is the small rubber/plastic trim that is between the steel of the car and the plastic cladding that is on the car. I hope I am describing this ok. It really is starting to look like crap after only 1 year. Has this happened to anyone else. Will this be covered under warrenty to have it replaced b/ci doubt this is normal. If you dont know what I'm talking about I will attempt to post a pic. Thanks again guys

Unfortunately it is kind of normal for our cars. It is more apparent on a lighter color car than a darker one. My wife's Suzuki (white) trim is almost yellow. If you do negotiate with the dealer, please let us know how that went as some members were experiencing the same effect.

Have a Nice Day?

YEAH! I noticed the same thing about a month ago on my '03. The cladding is fine but that little seal is fading... almost like a yellow.

I owned my 03 for a year and had no problem with the welting discoloring.I live on a dirt road, so mine gets washed alot and rinsed off between washings. The dust is a killer on a new car.I have'nt seen any discoloring with my 04 either, same color as the 03.It sits in the shade at work and i try to keep in the shade at home.

I have noticed some light spots but it was from scrubbing some road grime off of it the first time with a wetted cloth. Live and learn

I showed this to the local dealer, and haggled with them. Eventually they saw it my way (after a call to SOA), and they replaced the welting under warranty. Mine had some adhesive on it, and it almost looked like corrosion. Initially the local dealer didn't want to handle it because I bought it on the other side of the state! As I mentioned above, that call caused them to rethink their position. Be sure when it's replaced, that they cut it even. Mine had sharp edges where it was cut (from the spool?). So, I took an emery board and gingerly sanded it smooth, without touching the paint. I guess the best suggestion is to keep it clean (once a week washing).
