Default Removing trim in bed?

Has anyone tried removing the trim in the bed?

I'm wanting to get the rollbars off but don't want to trash the plastic clips and plugs while I'm at it... found instructions for installing sports lights that shows the inside trim walls coming off but can't tell much from the pics (https://www.1stsubaruparts.com/libra...ivity_Lamp.pdf) and they mention needing replacement plastic clips?

Man what a job, they have you stripping all the plastic off cause everything over laps.I did mine different, and it was still a bitch to do.Pull the 3rd brake light and to the right is the plug you connect to.Pop out the square plugs on the roof plastic that holds the light assy and take out the screws.I can't remember if the plastic upper ring around the bar will slide down out of the way. There's a plastic plug on the bottom.

I had pryed up on the plastic panel(be careful not to break it) and slid the small connector through the hole where the brake light goes and out the other side, then slide the harness down to the corner its a little tight, trim the rubber strip first.Once you get past this part, its down hill from there.I forgot the other hard part, plugging up the switch.Get ready to pull the radio,i had a hard time finding the harness for the switch even with the radio out.Pull the roof bar off and mount the lights and strap down the harnesses then reinstall the light bar get the lights set and tighten them down, hpoe this helps.Good luck.

I just had a brain fart,i thought the 05 came pre wired for the lights,so you don't have to do all of that.

lol

you cant take the "roll bars" off..they are part of what keeps the body from flexing.(as in part of the chasis)

and yes it is prewired for off road lights.. got a plug near the third brake light under the plastic trim.

The 03 and 04 have that also,i thought the 05 went a step further and ran the roof harness. The sport bars will come off, there bolted on.I found this out when i pulled the side bed panel to run some wires.

Hey thanks for all the replies. I guess I wasn't clear, what I'm doing is taking the bars off to have them painted, then they're going back on.

Thanks for the info, ajabobrut, that's what I needed to know. Did the plastic plugs get wrecked when you took those panels off?

Yes a couple did,if i remember correctly in the sport light kit extra clips and plugs were in there.Theres 2 little tabs on the center post of the plug, usually 1 of the tabs break off so be careful or order some before you start. What color are you going to paint the bars?Good Luck.

I haven't decided really on the colour, I've got the two-tone grey body with the grey wheels so I'm thinking maybe an anthracite chrome, like black chrome kind of thing. I'll put up pics when I get it done.
