Default Advice needed :Would I be taking a big hit ?

OK here's the deal. Currently I have 12months left on my lease of an 02TS and I wanted to know if I would be taking a huge hit trying to get into a used 02-03 wrx wagon. My TS is mint, hell it just hit 10,150 miles today LOL

any ideas..suggestions advice.. I know I should wait out the 12 mos but this would be a treat from me to me for one hell of a yr I cant wait to finish.

i used to finance cars, and i can show you multiple situations where leasing and buying work out pretty much the same way in the end (for most buyers). fyi i always purchase but in the long run, you will not lose any money leasing a car vs buying it.

original poster, it'll depend on what your buyout figure is. there's way too many factors involved for this to be a blanket question

Perhaps if you only have the car for the same amount of time. The thing about owning it is, even though it's market value may be $4000, it's still the same $30k car you bought, minus a few possible repairs.

If you're of the financial means only to pay for something on a monthly basis, you're begin very stupid and taking a huuuuuuge hit by getting rid of that car once the bulk of the depreciation is done.

I just bought an 05 GT, it's going to be with me or in my immediate family for a minimum of 10 years, 15 years being a good lifespan. Although I'm not expecting the 24-and-going lifespan of our 240 volvo. Ever see the top gear episode on "old money" owning outbacks?

12 months is nothing. Go for it. Boost is more addictive than crack. My motto is do it now why you are still young and good looking.

Call the finance company and ask how much it would cost to terminate your lease 12 months early. I doubt you'll like the answer, but at least you'll be able to decide whether it's worth it to you.

Stay with your TS till the end of your lease and get a good Fiscal record. Then buy a used WRX.

A good credit rating is worth another 12 months in your TS.

if you plan to keep a car for 10 years, or at least longer than 5 years then purchasing is definitely the way to go. i'd like to keep my mazda that long (it's my wife's 3rd car in 10 years of driving, i think it's plausable. but the majority of people don't even keep their cars 5 years, even if they plan to. but to say it'll still be the same $21k car 10 years from now, well that's going a little far. it'll be old tech by then, and even though i'm stringent on maintenance it'll still drive like a 10 year old car.

Well my buyout is 10k ! for a 3yr old TS that seems kinda steep. My contract states they have to pay me for unused miles. I may hold onto it for the last 12 months just for that. As I said the car is mint and my lease was for 39,000 miles and so far I only I have 10,200 miles. So who knows...besides that new legover wagon is secksay !!!
