Oil?

What is the best oil to use in a Subaru? Mine has 60,000 miles and I just bought it so I don't know what has been used before. What weight is best in the summer?

I'd switch over to a synthetic, if you're doing the change your self. It's an endless debate, but from all the research I've done, they rank out about like this:
1) Amsoil
2) Redline
3) Mobile 1

I can't recall the recommended weight - 5w/30, I believe, which is fine unless you live in an extremely hot environment, or constantly drive really hard. The recommended weight is in your owner's manual.

I would go with whichever 10W30 full synthetic you can find cheapest (name brand though). This is good anywhere that isn't EXTREMELY cold. The 5W30s will lose some of the low end (the 5 Winter part) faster because viscosity index improvers are used. I always go with 10W30 which is one of the acceptable viscosity that covers most temperatures. That said, 5W30 is probably okay, I just think 10W30 is better if you aren't in the arctic

I used Amsoil exclusively for the last 4 years on various Subaur's in my family.

However, my engine is now ticking occasionally. *sigh*
