Default Any full magazine reviews on Baja-T?

I know there was a blurb mentioned in one of the car mags with estimated performance numbers, but has there been an actual full test done with non-manufacturer or estimated performance stats?

Being 500 or so pounds heavier than the Forester, I was interested to see what testers were able to do.

Interesting numbers
If you compare them to the outback xt they tested in July,
there's not much difference for the added 40 hp and 15 lbft, is there?

Both autos, but the outback has the new 5 spd.

baja first (of course!)

Curb weight: 3751 lb
Curb weight: 3640 lb

Zero to 60 mph: 7.3 sec
Zero to 60 mph: 7.1 sec

Standing 1/4-mile: 15.5 sec @ 90 mph
Standing 1/4-mile: 15.6 sec @ 92 mph
(better aerodynamics?)

Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.75 g
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.74 g
same tires

I'm really on the fence between the Baja-T and FXT. The FXT just feels giddy fast and mods seem to be plentiful. But the Baja offers a bed which will come in handy often.

Can you get leather and heated seats with a manual gearbox in the '05 turbos?

"The 3751-pound Baja Turbo is less quick, owing to its greater weight and our test car's four-speed automatic. Still, at 7.3 seconds, it's quicker by two full seconds to 60 mph than a standard Baja equipped with a five-speed manual. Further, the Baja Turbo would be quicker than any of its competitors. If, that is, it had any competitors.

Subaru expects to offer a five-speed manual transmission in a decontented Baja Turbo (with cloth seats), but as we went to press, the company wasn't quite sure about that. If it is offered and we test it, it will be quicker. And as with any four-door car/quasi-pickup, top speed is critically important. The Turbo will circle the racetrack at 130 mph, leaving a Baja with the naturally aspirated four wheezing away at an insufficient 119 mph."

So it was the automatic that went 7.3 0-60. So the manual could realistically be 6.5 sec. and break into the high 14s in the 1/4 mile.

02_Forester,

It appears you can only get a leather interior with the 4AT and Turbo engine... The Leather Package ($1900 MSRP) is an add on to the Baja Turbo Automatic model... the Sport and Turbo can be had with 5MT, but only with the cloth/vinyl interior...

I think that all the AT turbos for 05 get the sport shift transmission which is really nice. auto for day to day traffic and manual for weekend driving. Fun.

I think the sport model gets the Auto that came in the 03 line up with the gated shifter which looks like it would be a pain in the a$$ to change gears.
