Default Newbee question on Brat WRX conversion

I read the information concerning the engine change overs but I didn't see anything on older vehicles. I would like to take an 85-87 Brat and install a newer WRX or equivillant engine. Also, depending upon reliability of the drivetrain (axels, trans., etc.) I would plan on modifying it up to 350-400hp. I have a couple questions regarding this. First of all, will the newer engine bolt in place and fit without major physical modifications? I noticed with the Impreza, someone stated that the cross member needed to be changed. I am also wondering how well the drivetrain would hold up?(Ie. how big of a project would I be getting myself into?) I am assuming that I would also need to change over to the newer 5-speed trans as well? What about swaping this engine into a Turbo Brat with an automatic? An automatic would be ok but I would ultimately prefer a 5-speed so would I be better off buying a non-turbo Brat with a stick or changing over from an automatic to stick at a later date? Is there any where I can go in particular to find out everything that would be involved? Or better yet, is there anyone out there that will do this kind of conversion and how much would it cost me? I have the ability to do it if I could get the information but I would prefer to have it done. I know I am asking a lot of questions but I am new to Subaru's. I had a Brat before and loved it. Thanks, Derek

There is someone here on the board who put an STi engine into a Brat in Australia. They call it the Brumby down there, so search on Brumby and Swap to see what comes up. If I remember right, it was pretty involved.
