Question check engine light came on help

I was on my way to work and then the check engine light came on ,is there any way I could do it my self to get the light to go off? or do I have to take it to have a diagnostic done on it ? this is for a 99 2.5 rs and yes the car has some mods done also there is a S-AFC but the car idel at 720 and in the sctoch zone,so help me out guys PLEASE.

take your car to an Auto Zone/Schucks or the like and they will probably have an OBD-II and will pull the code for free. Then you can know what is causing it and whether you should take it to a mechanic or what.

thanks for your help Jared, I just got back from doing that ,the mass air flow sensor is what cause it,so he showed me and pulled it clear,so may be I might need one if it happen again.
