Default Logging EGT's with utec / tuner pro?

It sure would be nice to have a log column for EGT's.

Does this sound feasible?:

I have this digital EGT gauge:
http://www.speedshop.org/store/scrip...p?idproduct=32

The probe connects to a junction box (via a coax BNC connector) and that junction box has 4 wires that go to the digital display. Assumming I can tap that signal (not sure if it's analog or digital at that point) and scale it right, is there even a way to add another log column so I could log it?

How dows the dtec do it? It has input for EGT right?

I went through all the menus of the tuner pro last night. The logger on the tunner pro can show the aux inputs. It's too bad it doesnt show all the utec params. If i get this working, i could probably hack up zutec and use two serial connections to log and merge Utec data + wb02 + EGT's into one log.

You have Zutec source code?

aaron, i had the same thought. i started working on it too. see:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=650894

i rigged it up to measure IAT, but i had a short to ground in one of the thermocouple leads that i had placed in the TB. the IC datasheets instruct you that one side of the TC leads must be grounded, and i did so at the IC, so with the addition of the short i had a ground loop and the readings were nonsensical.

one issue i had was the range and resolution of the tuner pro A/D interface. this won't be as much of a problem while measuring EGTs though, since they are an order of magnitude higher than IATs. for IAT use i will need to throw in some voltage gain, perhaps 5x, to get it in a nice range for sampling.

so many projects, so little time... :sigh:

Have any of you smart people done any more thinking about this? I would love to have this, but its way over my head to actually develop.

I just added Tuner support to my UTECLogger program which bridges Wideband's with the UTEC. Right now the program parses the AFR from the Tuner, but I could easily modify it to "tag" the entire Tuner logger line at the end of the regular UTEC line, effectively giving you 1 long line w/ ALL the values from BOTH units! Would that be helpful?

aaron, i would but i have this damned 12 day old baby girl... on my lap as i type this!

i had the type k thermocouple hooked up and running, but there were wires all over the cabin and i had to disassemble it.

that ic is the key. get a couple and start playing around. i used the "dead bug" method of circuit building, no circuit board.
