Default td04-16g

Ok here is what I got so far for this money trap

1.ported and polished
2.ceramic coated hot side
3.15lb acuator (sp)
4. soon as I get it back from getting coated I am going to send it in to deadbolt to have them put a 16g wheel in it and have them clip the other side.

My question is this
1. does any one on the board have a 16g td04 and if soo what do you think?
2. I am runing (comes in next week) Cobb's ST. Should I use a stage 2 as my base to start from and tune it up. Or should I use 2.5 and dink whith that one.
OH.. here is some more info from deadbolt- It should make almost as much as a td05-16g 300-310bhp.
I will be running a bigger injector and fuel pump per deadbolts request.

Well, I'm running Deadbolts TD05H-16G and I love it. Monster ported, black ceramic on the hot and grey ceramic on the cold. It spools nice and pulls hard all the way to redline.

You might try looking in the other forums. This is for the older subies, not the wrx.

Angry NO I am sick of trying

Ok suby guru... first I posted this in aftermarket forced induction... since in my mind adding a bigger wheel on your turbo is something done after market. Then I was told that I was in the wrong fourm. So I did not argue and moved it here. Since this is something other than a factory turbo and now I am told that I need to move it to the wrx fourm.. my question is not about my wrx but a turbo modification.. a god... do I say it .. a other than factory.. after market modification. So I guess my option is for my post to be pushed around like a homeless person from one post to another or I could just respond to those who care about this info and ignore you and pass on all the answers to the pm's I got about this upgrade. Well in the true intrest of why this board is here (info about your suby) I am going to ignore you.
It is hard to belive that the only two post I have gotten from "subaru guru's are "wrong post move to another fourm" hell if that makes you a "guru" on the nasioc message board then I need to stop posting here all together and stay on Cobb's message board. Where knowing some thing makes you a guru .
**************Rant over********
Ok now for the info to the questions and you old school subys can use this info too if you want to build one.

Deadbolt charges 299 for the wheel change and 99 dollars for the wheel clip, which you will need to keep up with the bigger wheel in a td04 frame.
Now if your smart you will spend 100 dollars to buy a good lightly used turbo (I think I got my from Rallitek). They accidently sent me one with a 15lb acuator . Then I had one of our local suby techs do the port work. He has done a few other suby td04 around here. (85 dollars) Then I droped off the hot side of my turbo to get coated (65 dollars) Then once you install this turbo in your suby you can take out the other td04 and send it to dead bolt and depending upon condation get a 200 dollar credit against the work they do on the wheel swap which in turn makes the whole 16g up grade 200 dollars.
So there you have it sports fans. I will keep every one posted on how this goes and if any.. any "subaru gurus" have any viable input on my questions dont let the rant scare you off.

subiekid was just trying to help you out. He was not berating you. This specific forum is for other "factory" turbo Vehicles.... you may acquire some input here but I think you would get more sound advice in the 2.0l forum (since you're madifying a wrx td04). most here do not get involved with Cobb's tuning packages (they don't work with our vehicles - grrrrrr) and will not be able to answer your Q's with much experience. also, this forum is DEAD compared with the 2.0l forum - but do as you wish.

I'm interested in your project and hope you get the info you seek. I personally have nothing to offer (I'm just a "newbie" - haha - I just don't post much), and no, I have not heard of anyone running a td04-16G, only the td05-16G.

good luck

I have to second Farfrumwork's thoughts. Subiekid was trying to be helpful. You have a 2.0l factory turbo, that is the appropriate forum for this inquiry. I know it can be a little confusing, but if you post it there you will get the most solid help. And tirades like the one above just put people off. 90% of our board members won't even read past something like that and your thread dies...

Yes, there are guys running 16G's on their cars in this forum, but they are running them on 2.2l of discplacement. They do not have ST as a tuning option, and they had to do a lot of custom work to make them work, such as adding an intercooler to an non-intercooled car, sorting out injectors since few drop drop into the 2.2l manifold, etc, etc. In short, their experience will not really directly be usable to your situation. In the 2.0l forum, there are close to 100 people running your set up. I only know of 4-5 2.2l guys even using any sort of 16g on their 2.2's.

And to answer one of your unaswered questions, I would start with the stage 2.0 map. Better to play it safe. Even your upgraded turbo won't flow as much air as the turbos on the 2.5 maps at the same boost. You will be pushing a bit higher psi of boost to get the same CFM's out of your turbo...

I was just trying to be nice and tell you that you are not going to get much information out of this forum. It's not my fault that you can't read.

Hey, Lets all just stop the fighting. We are here because we share a passion for Subarus, not because we hate other Subaru owners. This board is for the exchange of car knowledge, not a place to fight.

7point62 fmj, you first made your post in AFI, after being hounded about posting in the wrong forum you came over here which was not the correct forum to post in. Next time instead of blowing up on people, ask them what you did wrong. By posting in here you have gotten no help at all. None of us use any of the modern tuning options, most of us are using a 2.2 displacement over the 2.0, and a million little things that make us different from the average WRX owner. I have about 150 hours working on my ej22T, and about two hours working on a WRX. For this reason I try and not post things about the 2.0 just because there are so many differences from the ej22T.

Next time you get confused PM a mod and ask them what forum you need to post in, or just ask the guys in the forum where you should be posting. You can also try doing a search, I have seen a million threads for the 16g in the factory 2.0 forum. There is even a thread in here with pictures, but the post was for an ej22T.

Official request to close this thread.

I will close because of the mess, and I will go and request that the descriptions of the forums change to more accurately describe that aftermarket components on factory xx cars is to be discussed in those particular forums.

No hard feelings, gents... this sort of stuff happens.
