Question Re Post: Need help with RS-T ECU Code Malfuctions, and if TEC II will Solve it.

I posted this before but it wasn't when we had a aftermarket turbo forum and it didn't get much attention. Here it is again and here is the origional . Also I did try what wayne suggested along with running a new ECU.
I am having alot of codes on my car. They all started when JC Sports sent me a defective Torque Chip II which messed up all my sensors and my ECU. In Fact with in an hour of install blew my ECU Fuse. I have tried replacing Both O2 sensors, which is one of the codes being thrown, with no change. The O2 Sensor are also only reading at .30V both with the new and the old ones. Here are the codes being thrown please help.

P0403 EGR Circuit Low

P1102 Pressures Sources Switching Solenoid Valve Circut Low

P0505 Idle control System Malfunction

P0443 Canister Purge Control Solenoid Valve Circuit Low

P0141 Rear O2 Sensor Malfunction

P0135 Front O2 Sensor Malfunction

Any help would be apprecited. I am thinking for some of the code that maybe I need check valves on certain vacuum lines? Also I was thinking of going TEC II but since it's running along with the stock ECU, one of the things being Idle control. I don't know if it would solve my problems.
Thanks,
Joshua

Josh, you should have a check valve in the line going to the purge canister I think. Seeing as you work at a dealership, have you asked any of the service techs their opinion? Are you measuring the voltage on the O2 sensors from the ECU or are you looking at it as it comes out of the sensor? Have you swapped out ecus to see if it'll help? The TEC-II will take care of any O2 sensor problems in that it'll use its own o2 sensor. Is your idle bad or is it just throwing a code?

I have a new ECU and new O2 sensors, my O2 readings are from the ECU. As to my techs they don't want to even come near my car. The suck like that. And as to my Idle it's bad, idles at differanty RPM for not apparent reason, some times drops low springs high. I will try the Check valve. I wish I had the money to go TEC II right now I am frusterated with my setup.

Well, with problems occuring under vacuum I'd say boost isn't the culprit for the idle. Some things that I've done to smooth my idle are: richen the AFR target, lower the timing advance, and adjust the VE settings. Since you can't do any of those, I'm not sure what to do. Are there any vacuum leaks? Can you swap out your idle motor with a known good one? Any wires get burnt from the turbo that might be hidden by your IC? I'm reaching at this point

Default Thanks for the help

Well I have checked hoses and reclamped everthing thinking it may be a vacume leak but to no avail. I am going to replace all hoses with silicone hoses soon and replace the JC Sports Vacume chamber with a Cusco Oil catch can. I am hoping that if there are any leaks that this will cure them. As to idle motor I am not familar with this what exaclty is this and where can I find it. As to burt wires there doesn't appear to be any.
Confused,
Joshua

I think Ryan may be onto something here... What did you do with the two wiring bundles and connectors at the top of the tranny? The JC Sports kit instructions included steps to unscrew the brackets and loop the wire bundle on top of an aluminum A/C line. Since these wires carry virtually all the signals that you're getting codes for, I'd suspect that something happened to these wires and/or the connectors.

Weren't you supposed to make a trip up here so I can take a look at it? Or were a CF hood and wheels more important?

The idle motor should be on/at the throttle body if I'm not mistaken. Edwin should know precisely where it is since I think he was looking into replacing his factory idler with the one for the TEC-II. Can you bypass the catch-can dealie and run without it for a bit to see if it has an effect on the situation? My EGR hoses lead right back into the intake tube w/out a catch can, can you route yours to do this?

I still want to come and see you. I just go side tracked. I think I had to work that day and that's why I couldn't come up. Anyways I would like to setup a time to meet with you if your still up to it. I have both Weds and Thursday off. I also plan on going to the strip on Weds if your going to be there. As to the hood and wheels well the hood I needed after I crumpled the stock hood in a 2 mile an hour rear ending of an SUV and the Wheels, well my stock tires where so bald that I had no choice bu to get new ones and that would be the time to upgrade. Besides it only really cost me like 500 dollars after selling my rims to upgrade to them. But anyway tell me what works for you. As to the wires everything has seemed fine in the past but doesn't hurt to check again. I guess I could probably figure out something to remove the vacume chamber. Thanks for the help.

well, I suppose I could butt in here -- you guys are all welcome to stop by my place on Saturday and we can all look at it while I work on my own car and Ray's (we're flushing his brake fluid). Wayne, you're welcome to crash at my place for the night if you like. I also have the Impreza shop manuals specific to Joshua's car so that might be of some help.

PM me if you're all interested - later.

Default Work

That might work as well only thing being that I don't get out of work untill like 5. Where as on Weds and Thurs I have the whole day off. I also have both shop manuals for my year of car so either way we are all set. but a gathering sounds good more heads the better.

oh okay - well, 5pm is a little late for me; Ray and I were planning to get done before 5, but we can see what works for people

I don't have any further insights as to what is going on besides what I originally wrote, but I agree with Wayne; it's too coincidental that your problem wires are all wires that you've moved around in the course of your installation. Re-checking those should be simple to do - could be as simple as the connectors being loose. Give it a shot.

Later.

I'll be busy Saturday morning in western Mass. I'm likely out of town as well on Sunday, so maybe this weekend won't work for me.

But if you can drive up here late Wednesday or Thursday afternoon, we'll have a good 2-3 hours to look things over. If needed, I can even borrow test equipment from work. Otherwise, maybe Edwin can diagnose it for you on the weekend?
