Well I have had this Perrin Lightweight Crank Pulley for about 6 months now and it has been sitting outside my engine bay becasue i was having problems getting it installed. Well 2 weeks back I was able to finally get it in but found a problem. the woodruff key thingy seems to be just a bit wider then what was notched into the pulley. I dont know if i should send it back to RalliTek and tell them or just get the notch widened a smug. has anyone else had this problem. I have a 1998 L 2.2L wagon.

Never had this problem with an Unorthodox or Mr. Josh pulley. You sure you're just not lining it up right? If it doesnt fit I would send it back. Not worth trying to make the key bigger as you may screw it up and rallitek wont replace it.

It shouldn't be any different unless your key is damaged. Subaru has used the same pulley size since 1993 (maybe even before then but I don't pay attention to those cars). You may need to clean the key off and maybe file it a little.

Hold it up to the stock one and look through it. Align the key ways and see what the problem is. If the key way is too narrow then send it back. If the woodruff key hammerred the slot bigger in the stock one then you may need to replace the woodruff key.
Sometimes during removal the woodruff key will tilt in it's slot. It is a crescent shaped key way. It may need to be tapped in and straightened. I would not file it, but I have rubbed them on 600-800 grit sandpaper on a flat surface to clean them up a bit. Good luck. |

Thank you everyone. I was thinking of getting a woodruff key anyways and see if it fits if it doesnt i would just resize it on the pulley i think it wouldnt affect anything.
