What do you use to paint the interior trim? Touch up paint from the dealer or spray paint? Something totally different?

I used the spray cans I had mixed to paint my sideskirts. Also used some non-metal surface primer and a few coats of clear on top.

I posted a huge how-to on this about a year (or more) ago. I used a base primer, then picked a titanium color and a chrome/aluminum color for accents. After that I used a satin clearcoat. It was one of my favorite mods. The paint I used was all from pep-boys and I think the titanium color was actually a color-matched Nissan paint.

I thought I'd resurrect this thread, since the info here, and the info linked thread inside is missing pics.
Anyone have some interior paint pics? I particularly want to get rid of the offensive fake wood trim look on the doors. I assume you need to do some decent sanding on these parts. What kind of sandpaper did you use? I considered using hobby sanding paper since it's plastic. Thanks Ken |

Have you checked out Duplicolor paints lately? Looks like they’ve expanded their line-up to include “trim” and “vinyl” paints designed for the interior.

I'm going back to flat black for my interior, blue looks terrible.

I'm usually not one for spray painting of interior trim peices, but Cajual's car looks great. Very clean looking interior. Must be because its not green, red, and yellow
.Alright, all joking aside. Its does look very good, and if done tastefully I am sure all can look good. Its just too over the top for me when people take out every piece of trim that can be popped out with a flathead screwdriver. Then paint them the brightest color possible that doesn't match any color on the car what-so-ever... And it tops the cake when that is the only "mod" done to the car I have been debating painting my trim to cover up the "woodgrain". I would either paint it black or grey to match my interior. -BB98 |

I'm considering colors. I think I'd like a dark metallic color finish.
I'm at a toss up whether to try those brushed aluminum/carbon fiber look "Stickers" or painting. I think painting would give a better look. The stickers look good from a distance, but I wonder what it looks like in person and I'm also concerned about screwing up applying them. But definately the wood color trim has to go. I don't know why Subaru did this, either do the entire trim package, or leave those window switches black. |
