Default Show me your wagon amp install.

I want to put my 4 channel polk/momo amp into my new wagon that i just picked up. but I don't want it on the rear of the seats or on the floor. (I want to keep the versatility of the folding wagons seats to put cargo back there) I think it is too big to mount it under a front seat. SO, if anyone could give me location ideas i'd appreciate it.

Do you absolutely need the spare? I ditched the spare, carry a can of fixaflat, and have towing through my insurance company. Got two amps mounted in the spare tire well along with my Sirius tuner box and maybe eventually a music keg. Fixaflat should get me home with most any flat (nail, etc) except for a complete blowout.

And nothing for thieves to see and steal.

Sounds like a very good idea to investigate during the summer - my summer, southern hemisphere - don't really know whether there is space for my big VGA 500.4, but who knows....

Nevertheless, take a look at my current installation: http://dot2day.com/car-fun

Cheers,

well i'd like to keep my spare tire so there goes that idea. Under the seat seems like the only option for me. but I think my amp is too big, when I take it out of my old car i'll test it out. But in the mean time if anyone has any other mounting ideas let me know.

I have my amps under the front seats. Actually, it's probably a larger area of space than you think. It should fit fine. You don't really have too many other options. You could build a fiberglass attachment to the back and bolt it on to that, but that's for people with a lot of time and creativity on their hands. I, like I said, put them under the front seats.

scoobydrew - i think you'll be surprised at how much room there is under the front seats. i didn't think my 4-channel would fit either, but it did with no problem. good luck!

Here's mine....yea I know the 2 channel is crooked, but there is a beefy support bar under there that I couldn't get the amp to sit flat on. There is still room to the right of the 2 channel for an iPod adapter in the future.

well i guess brewpubeaver just proved me wrong about fitting under the front seats. Since you said it barely fits between the rails i guess i'll have to keep the seat in the car to install it.

i had the seat out the entire time i was installing mine, just make sure you get the amp between the seat mounting holes. and you may have to trim the the rear inside seat bolt cover (the plastic thimg)...maybe not, i did with mine though

Mine is essentially the same as HighVolt, cept I had a custom 8" box under the passenger seat and an amp under the drivers seat.

I am also deciding where to install my amps.

Thinking about installing one amp on top of my spare tire and other amp bolted to my sub. A good weekend project.

Amps fit great under the seats. Mine have been there for three years and the kods have never damaged them and people in the back seat have never had a problem with them.

i dream of sti...where is your sub box? If its not bolted down do you really want to add more weight to what could be a really large projectile?

I never liked putting them under the seats. Ive seen too many get messed up from spills and such. I put mine in the small storage area towards the front of the hatch. I ended up having to raise the height of the whole back hatch floor. I'm not 100% done yet but I will take some photos and post them later. When its done It will look 100% stock and give me full use of my hatch when I remove the sub box. I bought the wagon for a reason and didn't want to fill up the back with amps and subs and make it unuseable.

I was thinking of using some L brackets and bolt them to the chasis. make sure it doesn't fly anywhere. I could always try making a subwoofer in the spare tire. but will have issues where to put the amps. Still thinking about. Thanks for tip

Default amps location

amps under the seats are about the only option, unless you want to spend the cash to custom stash them someplace else. i have the "in the spare" sub and it thumps just fine. i had to have the cover cut to let the base out, but i have a rubber cargo liner over that so i got my utility back. i plan to dynamat all the doors soon and upgrade the tweets in front. if i dont trade her in for the legacy gt spec b.

Default recent amp install

Just did quick install of my amps in my trunk.

I know it looks ghetto, but i ain't a pro at this. My biggest concern is proper cooling for the amps. Hopefully they will be ok.

comments welcomed.

Awesome amps...I used to work for PG back in the good old days before they offshored the product to Asia...hang on to those ZX amps...they don't build 'em like that anymore.

And yeah, the TO-3P transistors need a lot of cool, fresh air.
