I'm about to buy a new 05 STi. I'll fly anywhere in the lower 48 to purchase it. What dealers should I look at? Who has 500 STi's (exageration) on their lot?

Are you referring to Van Bortel Subaru or Anchor Subaru by any chance?

I say Irvine Subaru in Irvine CA. pretty much anyone can walk in and buy any car for $100 over invoice without much hassle. Im sure if you called them and said you were flying in they migt even do better

Do you have to get your Subaru serviced at the place you bought it? Say your alternator blows 6 months after you buy it. To get it replaced free can you go anywhere?

Best bet is to shop around your local dealers, plus some of the ones mentioned here. You may find just as a good a deal locally.

I would try Irvine and Riverside in CA. Not too far from each other - and I hear great reviews of both dealers. I personally go to the Riverside branch for Car service - they are much nicer and quicker than anyone else. Irvine is usually busy and workers are slow.

www.fitzmall.com has good prices. i've bought or helped people buy 4 cars there. Its like buying a TV, pick out the one you want, and pay for it.... bought my RS for 3K+ of sticker...

Fitzmall is great. Got my 05 wrx from them, over $1000 cheaper than buying in town even with shipping from the East coast to NM.

VanBortel may sell a ton of cars, but they don't keep much stock - their lot is a lot smaller than you'd think - 50-60 cars at a time, tops, and I've only seen an sti on the lot twice.
And they don't negotiate. It is possible to get a better deal elsewhere. |

Between plane tickets and gas for the ride home it might be cheaper to buy from a dealer close to you...

would it not be cheaper to just buy it locally? flying kinad costs money and with the possible price difference in the car it will probably end up being the same if you dont fly

You can get a 1 way Southwest ticket for about 100-200 bucks anywhere in the country. Or at least most major cities.
And plus by the time I get home it will be broken in. Don't worry, I'll be taking the back roads (alternating speed, rpm, etc). |
