no personal experience, but based on tests like that above the GSD3 is on the short list of tires to replace my aging Falken FK451's, along with the Continental SportContact2's and the new, as yet untested Falken FK452's.

here's some more test info if you're interested:

I have had both. They are both good in the rain.

Control may be better in the wet with the so3 due to the stiffer side wall. I didn't like the harsh ride and tramlining at the end of the tread life, but this is not part of your question.

The GS D3, ride better, last longer, cost less, have a softer sidewall, and have phenomenal anti hydroplaning. I believe they are lighter too.

The anti hydroplaning effect could give you a control advantage in extreme rain conditions.

I have not a control problem with either tires in the Subaru 17" optional tire size.

I am on my second set of GS D3 tires. I get about 20,000 miles of so3 and GSD3 tires.

ive been looking at the gsd3 too, but the only downfall ive found is the sidewall stiffness. are they good for autocrossing on a 17" rim?

cough (hankook rs2) cough.............. i have specifically attempted to get my rs2's sideways in varying conditions of wet in varying times of driving and they BARELY let loose. they are like glue and half the price of what you are looking at.

in alaska its about 50/50 in the summer. hakka 2's are usually the best for winter. so you can see why i need good water dispersion
