Default 1.8 to EJ257: accessory compatibility

I'm gearing up to start an STi swap into my 95 Impreza L 1.8 and I am thinking about building up my own motor so I'm wondering if I should keep any of the stuff from the 1.8 to use on the sti. Is there anything I can or can't use from it. I don't mean the heads or internals or anything, but like the alternator, starter, water pump, oil pump, oil pan or anything else?

Oil pump and Oil pan i'm going to say no. Alternator probably, it will bolt up but I don't know if the connections and power output is the same. Starter, not sure, but probably would work. Water pump is different on the turbo motors due to the headers. Your A/C is swapable.

But if you do the swap, try to get as much of that stuff from whatever motor you are going to buy...

yea I would like to not have to use my old parts from the 1.8 but if I'm running low on money next summer when i do the build I just wanted to know what from the 1.8 I could use in a pinch. Also I'm ditching AC all together.

Starter cares about the tranny for the mounting. But you can use your starter if it's in decent condition. I would reuse the alternator. You will want a turbo oil pump and water pump, and oil pan.
