I kinda got bummed with the Beerfest since it was a bit expensive. I remembered there's this tonight also, but I am skeptical as to how "fun" this really is. Sounds a bit too geeky if you read the site, although there is booz...

I've been to one of these before... not much people were dancing initially, and if you don't mind all-techno all the time, it's okay... also, there's a lot of gadgets given away through draws using ticket entries... and they have a Lego corner and also some really old video games corner.

Yeah, I was going to ask about this! It could be fun, or it could be a bunch of laid off workers and gold diggers looking to get hooked up.

Lego sounds like fun though -- if we get bored we could always build a 22B.

Anybody have an alien mask?

Well, according to some sources, there are some hot wymyn there. And the whole thing is not just tech people, there are receptionists, friends of friends of friends... plenty to mack on. This might not be bad instead of scopin' out trendy Japanese "restaurants" on robson.

If they have gt3 or cmr2 networked there, I'm gonna play and win all of the prizes...

But there is a chance it will be sold out unless you go early.

Last time I went it was okay... some chickies there.... some hot ones too

but overall it was pretty "geekish". Not much drinking, not much dancing (until later on) and not much else. The prizes were okay (I got some glow sticks which came in handy at a rave the next weekend

)... For the real purpose of the event - connections - I found it kinda lame. The music was too loud and the club too dark. But its something to do on a Friday

I'm confused, what the heck is this "Geek Rave" about? Is it some kind of rave with techie stuff? Or is it some kinda pseudo-cool technology expo with a 'ravers twist'?

It does sound interesting, but at this time its already started. bleh...

I was there yesterday, my friend is a partner in it so I went to volunteer.. Geekrave is just a party atmosphere for tech companies but anybody is allowed in.. Its a mix between a club / networking thing.. ppl can talk, dance, drink and theres always games and activities setup so theres always something to do..

Actually, I ran into about 3 friends, some I haven't seen in high school, and remember that I went to high school in the boonies 450km away from here.

hahah Ken, nope I wasn't getting jiggy w/ it on the dance floor.. the music wasn't my cup of tea.. I was station at the lego pit so I set it up and kept eye on the area for a while.. but I spent most of my nite talking to my friend and we left around 11 cuz she wanted to get home... But some of my other friends stayed till the end and cleaned up as well.. I'll prob go to the next one as well whenever that will be.. we can make it an event.. ahhah!
