Default Looking for some cool stereo shops in the Portland area

Greetings everyone,

I'm trying to find some good stereo shops in the Portland area (I live in Seattle). The reason? I'm trying to find a shop that would be interested in being a vendor at WCSS8. I have plenty of ideas for shops up here in Seattle, but it'd probably be better for everyone if it was a local shop.

I have some friends in Vancouver, WA, and they've rattled off the names of a couple places in the area. However, I'd like to broaden my audience and get more opinions. At this point, I'm merely picking a name from random out of the phone book, so even something like "Shop XXX is really cool, call them!" is helpful.

Does anyone know of a good local shop in the Portland area. (is it called PDX? what the heck does PDX stand for any way?) Ideally, I'm thinking a smaller, private owned shop would be better. Car Toys, for example, might be loathe to set up a booth, while a small mom&pop shop might.

I'd appreciate any input you guys have!

PDX is the Airport code.
There are a few shops I know about one is Stereo King I have had some work done by them in the past and they were pretty cool. They have a shop in Gresham and another one in PDX somewhere.

There is also Outragious Audio but I dont truely know about them they seem shady to me.

stereo king is the worst place to go, a bunch of crooks.

you can give rich a call, "The sound choice" is his shop. It seems right up your alley, check out www.oregonsoundchoice.com and look at their installs etc. really high end stuff

Stereo King is out. Their Advertising guy said that Hood River Fairground is too far away.

Outrageous Audio is probably out. Their manager said they don't do car shows anymore, but to call the owner tomorrow.

The Sound Choice is a possibility. Rich said he might be interested, but he wanted to research it a bit and sounded pretty suspicious (I suppose I was talking a bit like a salesman). I'll call them back next week.

I just got an install done at the one in Beaverton; Magnolia is high end stuff, nice and very professional folks. Oh, and thanks for the referral for Magnolia, Dave.

Sound choice in Portland gets my vote. They have done some great work for me in the past. Smaller shops need good exposure!

Up here in Seattle... we have a place called "Stereo Warehouse". They do installs, but their specialty is that they have a TON of equipment in their shop. They have a huge variety.

If they were closer to OR, I'd give them a call (I still might).

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll start calling around.

You know this is not stereo places but you might hit up Spy optical and DaKine. Dakine is in the Dalles and might do it since subie owners do use their products.
