After literally years of anxious anticipation (I've been following the vehicle's development for two years prior to release), personal setbacks (period of unemployment), and lots of drooling and getting on Subaru of America's nerves with my constant feedback, I FINALLY own a Subaru Tribeca! I bought an '06 Atlantic Blue Pearl Limited Tribeca with DVD and Nav. It has the dark grey perforated leather and also has the roof crossbars and puddle lights. I went for the '06 as I got a deal I couldn't pass up on it AND got a great trade-in value for my '03 LL Bean Outback. Being that we have known the owner/general manager of the dealer for years, she treated me and my family EXCEPTIONALLY well and threw in some other perks I cannot discuss. All in all, I am 100% satisfied with my purchase as it lets me end the Tribeca dream and finally start living it! Tonight, I am going in for the rubber mats and cargo tray. I plan to go to Best Buy at lunch today to pick up a long cord and cigarette lighter adapter to connect my Ipod dock. ![]() |

Congrats We have nearly the exact same Tribeca but with the tan interior and love it- a nice larger complement to our 02 WRX.
When you get it on some curvy roads you will be surprised by how well it handles for a big car. I drove ours on the VERY curvy Palms to Pines highway back to San Diego from Palm Springs and was giving a Porche Cayenne a run for the money. Not a sports car of course but really stable and predictable handling-averaged 24 mpg for the 300 mile round trip. Great road trip car. Stick to the Sport Shift and you can have some fun with the admittedly modest power. |

Well as of today I averaged 20.4 MPG around town with only highway driving to work. I only run 93 octane in it. Has anyone ran 87 to see what their average MPG would be?

In the city/suburbs more like 17-19 It gets better with a few more miles on it. Other tips I found that work is to accelerate moderately as opposed to totally babying it in the city/suburbs-get up to the upper gears quickly. Sportshift it to really short shift it. It is never going to be an economy car but compare it to the new Audi Q7 V8- A larger and more luxurious but quite similar vehicle in terms of interior size/cargo area/functionality/ammenities and yet doesn't handle quite as well as the Tribeca, only .5 secs faster to 60 with the V8 and Edmunds averaged 11.4 mpg. Yikes! I did one test as gas was approaching $4.00/gallon here in CA. Set the cruise at 65, reset the odometer and drove for about 15 miles on the freeway- Trip computer read 29 mpg avg! Optimistic to be sure but what the experts say is true: Every 5 miles/hour increment above 60 will really start to take a toll on mileage. Gawd its hard to drive under 75 though! But thats what I have the WRX for. |

HB, update us on your love for the Tribeca. Several of us on AKIC have continuously updated our "Just bought a..." thread with pics of progress. Mine shows my accidents and mods.
Let a brotha know! |

I have PO700 and PO768 error codes. After a full 7 hour inspection and a flush of the tranny (that was only rebuilt a year ago), clearing of the codes, and a raping of $187 yesterday afternoon, I had the problem come back again last night after work. When this occurred, my transmission no longer could shift into other drive gears shifts until i drive for a little while, shut the vehicle off, and restart it later. At this point, the "SPORT" light stops flashing and the vehicle at least shifts again. I guess this is some sort of "limp" mode? Taking her back in again maybe Monday morning if they have a loaner car for me... |
