Default Could methanol or water injection be a replacement for sleeving a 2.5ltr block?

Could methanol or water injection be a replacement for sleeving a 2.5ltr block?

Im wondering that ovaling of the standard EJ25 liners may be due to increased heat generated when pumping out heaps of power. Would keeping those conditions cooler i.e by water injection prevent fatigue on the liners at power levels over 400-500hp atw on pump

Please discuss

i sincerely doubt ovalling is caused via heat.

it really comes down to a matter of geometry and cylinder pressures dictating side loads on the pistons. imho of course.

I dont think this will work. i dont see how you will form the water into a liner shape. The water will just run out.

Water injection only adds det resistance. Not cylinder strength. Pressure is what ovals cyls, not det.

thanks clark and davenow.

i was orignally hoping that it may reduce the cyclinder temps to reduce ovailing, howver u have rightly pointed out that cylinder pressure is wots the problem and not temp.
