I am kind of surprised that no one has done a review on this bad-boy.
Here we go -->
Set-Up: Engine wise, I have the silcener removed, ITG filter, stock exhaust, and now, the Unichip. I had the Joe P. MBC installed prior to the Unichip. Using CA pumped gas - 91 Octane.
Literally a snap. Just snap off the stock harness and snap on the Unichip. The biggest PITA is re-installing the factory kick-panel top mount onto the TurboXS "J" bracket. Took me like 20 mins and still could get the supplied bolt and nut back in. I gave up, didn't put the screw & nut back in. Anybody, please let me know if that's going to hurt anything because I ain't going back in there!
It would make life much easier if the "J" brkt is pre-tapped with threads and the screw is an allen screw instead of the phillips screw - easier to hold on to.
at sub 3000 RPM, definitely drives like stock. Otherwise, very smooth throughout the power band. Comparing to the MBC, Unichip has no hestiation when I slam on the gas pedal in 4th or 5th. I believe the hestiation comes from the stock ECM dumping gas into the engine due to the increased air flow. 2nd & 3rd gears pull noticeably harder than the MBC set at same boost level (~14.x psi). 1st gear, feels like it pulls smoother, not necessary harder comparing to the MBC set at same boost level. 4th & 5th gear, the Unichip runs at a higher boost level (~16.5psi vs. MBC's 14.7 psi) than my MBC. I notice a very slight increase in engine noise under acceleration.
Very nicely written sets of instruction. Top grade material, top grade workmanship - PCB, stand-offs, harness, etc. Very nicely thought out hardware supply for fitment of the unit.
