I just exchanged emails with Trey Cobb of Cobb Tuning. They are looking for someone local to Salt Lake City, UT that is interested in having an AccessPort put on their 2005 RS or 2006 2.5i. They want to use someone's '05 RS for the R&D. The participating car owner will be given a substantial discount on the AccessPort and tuning.
It will likely involving bringing the car to the shop to acquire the ECU data first, then returning to do the dyno tuning. The result will be ProTuner support for the '05 RS and perhaps the AccessPort with staged mapping. Please post here if you are interested and contact Trey at at www.cobbtuning.com. If I was located in UT, I would certainly volunteer my car. This could potentially be one of the most cost effective power mods for an RS.

I doubt they'll get as much out of an RS as they did from the turbo models, but it would be interesting if they could squeeze 15 or so hp out of the deal. Just wish I was in SLC.

I agree. I've seen I-speed's reflash results on a 2.2L RS. They were able to get 10 HP at all RPM's. A similar result on a stock '05 RS from Cobb would be great, especially considering you would be able to change maps with the AccessPort for use wth different gas, valet mode, etc. Also, given the price of currently available AccessPorts, the $ per HP will be much better than most other power mods currently available for an RS.

I forwarded the information on to the only person I know with an '05 RS that might be interested. Hopefully she gets the message in time. I wish they were looking for an LGT to test on, but I know Trey has one and probably doesn't need any other guinea pigs. lol Oh well...

Hmm... I wonder why they need an 05, has the ECU changed at all in the last 6 years? I know someone in SLC with an 02.

I know for sure that they changed from MAP to MAF in '05.
I've heard complaints from someone (can't remember who) that the ECU's keep changing from year to year on the Imprezas. I also understand that the '05 ECU has 3 harness plugs as opposed to some model years that have 5 plugs. I don't know this for sure. This is what I've heard recently from exchanging emails/posts with a bunch of different tuners/vendors. |

Go check the wiring pinouts on ravensblade for 05 compared to 04, none of the connectors are the same, more wires, etc, it's quite the mess. Probably getting it ready to accept the AVCS for 06, as it seems thats the only real difference between 05 and 06.
Either way, when the Cobb AP for the 05+ RS comes out, I'll be getting in line. |

actually what the ECU runs is totally different in the N/A cars. More than likely there getting ready to inventory parts for the N/A with AP such as exhaust and intake so they may have downloadable maps available on there site when this is completed. I'd love to but as far as I know Sean at Rallitek or Rallitek themselfs are the only ones doing anything with the N/A AP I could be wrong though...based on fuel such as premium you can run timing a bit advanced and get some out of it. I've got a few maps on mine waiting for CAI to complete my e-tune since I've been running a bit lean....then on to SC raptor kit for me.
