Default seatbelt beep...make it stop!!!!!

ok so I have this 06 right...you know the chime that goes when the seatbelt isn't hooked....I don't have a problem with it per se but I have a real problem with it beeping and the car not moving and having the ebrake on. The wife wants it killed and to be honest with you...so do I.

Oh great people of the baja....guide me to the death of the seatbelt beep. FWIW, I really don't want to kill its other functions as I feel it is there for a reason but beeping at me in a parking lot with it running is total BS.

goto junkyard, find another seatbelt and just get the portion you shove into it. leave it in the consol until needed to stop the noise??

If you turn on your ignition (but don't actually start car) and you click and unclick the seatbelt like 20 times in about 30 seconds then start the car and turn it off. Seriously, try it. I read it on USMB or Scoobytrucks and tried it on my '06 Baja T MT. It worked! I still get the initial like 6 beeps when I start the vehicle, but it stops after that. That was a very annoying feature in our vehicles! Good luck and let us know if it works.

so far so good.....I didn't leave the parking lot yet (i'm at work) but in inital tests it looks like the beep is gone....of course I look like a total jack doing the seatbelt 20x in a row but whatever it takes right...

Thanks dude!

I'm glad you said that, because I didn't know what he was referring to... I also have an 05.

Just a small note.
If the battery is disconnected, the seat belt warning comes back.
Just do the same procedure again.

actually it did it again....i got to see if it is really gone or if the 20 click thing is just a one time deal. I took the belt off as I drove down my alley and it started beeping...hmmm I'll drive it with it off tomorrow and see what happens.

Cutoff Function for Seat Belt warning chime
(Works for the 2005 Outbacks and Legacys, too)

Warning: I am in no way responsible for anyone’s safety...just posting this as a convenience.

1. Turn the key to “ON” (not running).

2. Fasten and unfasten the driver’s seat belt 20 times in 30 seconds, starting from when you actually turn on the key. (This will set the passenger seat as well).

3. Turn the ignition on, and you should be set.

4. Setting lasts until the battery is disconnected or the system is otherwise reset.

5. If you want to do this as a temporary thing (just for one driving period), fasten/unfasten the belt 3 times in 6 seconds. The chime will reset the next time the car is started.
I got the above info from Scoobytrucks. If you go there to the Baja forum, you will find info on the seatbelt chime. The first time I did it I had tempory success, but chime returned the next day. Second time I did it was a success as I only get an initial six second chime when I start Baja.
Maybe I told you incorrectly about starting engine after clicking and unclicking the seatbelt twenty times. I could have swore that was the last step I took, but hey there's a reason for the name spacinjason ! Good luck, let us know how it works out for you.

IT'S ALL WE'LL DRIVE!

Default seatbelt chime

I did this for my '06, and it works, but I would like to add that you don't have to clip & unclip the seatbelt. ( it will look funny to someone )
All you have to do is just press the red release botton 20 times. Alan

That's a great idea, wish I would of thought of that. I did feel like a dork clipping and unclipping the belt! Thanks for the input!
