Default Damaged FMIC

Well it's been 3 weeks since I received my FMIC damaged. I contacted FedEx and filed a claim, after a week, they denied my claim because they only deal with the shipper. Deedee from SS Autochrome just emailed me this.

No fedex made the damage...and when you purchase from us we relinquish all rights to you to persue a claim - once the item is on the fedex truck its yours to deal with.

So to say the least, their customer service is bad.

What did fedex have to say about that comment?

Fedex picked up the damaged intercooler Monday, and I haven't heard anything back yet. I filed a dispute with my Credit Card Company who said it is SSAutochrome responsibility to correct the problem and deal with Fedex. I'll just have to wait and see. Nice product, just hope it doesn't get damaged in shipping or your f'd

Sorry to hear that you're having problems. My FMIC had damage prior to shipping. They promptly replaced the core and had the damaged one picked up. The new one looks great. Now to find out if it fits on an 06 WRX...

so.. i've been searching and searching about somebody installing this fmic onto a 2006 wrx. Has it been done? I read the thread about the guy with the turboxs fmic having fitment issues with the hp fuel lines. Is there a way to make this fmic fit? we ordered this fmic for my friends 06 and we really need it to fit lol.

FWIW its going to be close to impossible to get any core from anywhere without a couple of bent fins. Its just the nature of them being so fragile. I bet a peanut in the packing sat on some the wrong way and bent them a bit.

For those that had it damaged in shipping thats gotta be a tough break. They are really well packaged and protected.

I uded my key to straighten out some bent fins. They really are soft and easy to bend. Like cdvma said a packing peanut could bend one if pressed into it hard enough.

I don't think anyone has tried the SSAC one that I know of. But since you got the kit coming it would take much time to just remove the TMIC and test fit the pipes. But since you need to lower the fuel filter in a 02-05 WRX to make room for the piping I doubt it's going to work. I'm guessing you could have some new fuel lines fabbed up. Not sure what the cost would be or if it's even worth it but it's atleast worth looking into it.

Does TurboXS have a fix to get theirs to fit on an '06? If so maybe that will work here too.

Update: Since I dont feel like running a short ram hot air intake, and don't want to shell out $220 for the XS Engineering CAI that "might work" I'm going to attempt to make a cold air intake using some individual pieces off eBay. Probably an assortment of bent pieces and straights, hopefully I will be able to use 2 of them and a cone filter to mate up with the included MAF housing and my silicone inlet tube.

Ordered everything today! For all the items needed I ended up paying $445 approx. minus the 90 degree elbow. I guess I will see if I need that or not. Good deal either way.

Getting the core mounted and the bumper cut is something you can do before hand! This process takes the most time anyway :P

Yea I was going to do that but I wanted to have one day to install and one day to tune because I'm switching MAF diameters. Oh well.

Mount the core and get the bumper cut... You don't need to mess with anything else until ya have the parts... After the core is in, the rest takes like 2 - 3 hours tops

But is there even a patent for this FMIC design? I doubt the venders even bother (especially considering venders usually don't design nor manufacture the parts).

So what are people using now to mount the fender liners with the bumper beam gone? I think I might have to make a few brackets.

update:
The ssAuto Fmic works on the 06 wrx! We installed the fmic kit on my friends 06 yesterday and has been running fine ever since. The fuel line part is a tight squeeze but with some coaxing it works. We're going to start trimming the bumper tomorrow and we'll post some pics during the process.
