I believe that is the 6cyl engines found in some Legacys and the Tribeca.

It sure looks like a four to me.

Hmm. The seller is listing it as an N/A unit of 3.0 liters. The six-pot lump in the Leg and Tribeca is an EZ30 btw.
So what does nabisco know about this uber four-banger then? Special stump-pulling unit?

Well,
Looking at the hand scribed bearing and piston sizes, I would hazard to guess it is some sort of factory prototype engine. I personally have never heard of it before. I would love to see some more information on this engine...

If that doesn't work:

1. Search for "ej30 subaru" on Google.
2. Look for "NASIOC - some teaser pix from JDM land", and click on the Cached link.

Interesting thread.. I don't know why it was closed:

You and me both Matt. I think you're right and it's some kind of Subaru skunkworks project.
The vendor is the same guy I got my '06 EJ25 from, the one with the alloy sump. He does come up with some bizarre stuff, just ask moose.
Well, it's for sale at the equivalent of USD3,039... but if I buy another new engine a year after my last one I'll be sleeping in the garage with the car.

Its a typo. All that information on that line coresponds to the EZ30. (N/A, 250hp/219 torque, 10.7/1 CR... etc.) The EJ30 being sold by moose is a turbo motor.

I just scored a 92 gt legacy for $400..supposidly blown clutch..i scord it for parts for my sisters 92 auto legacy which had a stufd mtr and 140000k on it...so i dropped it in and swt..well i look in glovebox and the manual parts gt legacy had $6000 worth of receipts from the 1st nz owner from 2001 & the car still had a wof and every wof sheet since 2001..so i scored a 97 twin t legacy auto blown driveshaft.dereg for $800...used the 92 single turbo running gear on the twin t mtr..then realised it waz a 03 mtr ..stoaked az..and i dropped a 2001 vf30 turbo on it and customised the intake pipework...(DAM TIGHT).double s bend lobsterbak.it goes well between 3 & 5500rpm
