While attempting to change my wheels this morning i noticed that one of my studs was stripped by the garage that put the wheels on in the first place. Am I taking a seriousrisk by driving my car with only 4 lugs on a front wheel, until i can get the stud replaced, ie tomorrow, or will i be ok? the other 4 lugs are all tourqued to spec, 70 lbs. thanks

a guy at a wheel and tire store told me not to drive anywhere. He seemed a little less than knowledgable. I just wanted to get some other opinions

I had a Taurus that I drove around for a good year with a stripped lugnut on the front driver's side. Just check to see that the other 4 lugnuts are tightened down to spec every few months and you'll be fine until you get it fixed.
Just need a hammer and the replacement lug bolt |

thanks, does it make sense to replace all the studs at the same time. Guess i am just nervous after what the guy at the shop said.

^^Just replace the one stud, however it never hurts to have at least one spare. You can drive your car.

Have you got a quote for the stud replacement? I've heard it can be pricey. It is a pretty easy DIY job if you are confident doing stuff like brakes, etc.
