Default Getting started on my 07 WRX

hey, im new to the Subaru world... but no to the tuner world... baught the car 3 weeks ago right off the truck 12 miles on her... YAY... but im starting to get her going and just looking for some general feed back on just about every thing from intake, boost controlers, and ECU's to exhaust, turbo up-grades gauges...
i have just ordered the SPT high flow intake... (thanks to my friend at the dealer i got a good deal) and now im going after exhaust... so frist i would like to get some opinions on that... looking for something to help with turbo lag and all but nothing to showy or loud... any feed back will be appreciated...
thanks
scott

unabomber's manifesto is the bible here and its stickied at the top of the forum (will take a LONG time to read it all). it will get you started but the rest is for you to research and decide. use search first before starting threads to avoid being flamed. good luck

I agree, read Unabomber's manifestos and FAQ's.

An BTW, NO BOOST CONTROLLERS! Engine management will take care of boost control for you and will do it safely.

Welcome to the community.

...reasearch costs a LOT less than buying the wrong parts

....beware listening to or taking any 'advice' from n000bs......many are dumber than rocks

....the tires and suspension are the weak points of the car, along with the stock brake pads

....the stock turbo with a TBE and a tune can be pretty fun until ya learn the car

Skip the intake...not worth the money.

Skip a turbo timer...boost controller...blow-off valve...all of them are a waste of money.

DO NOT PUT ON AN EXHAUST (except a catback) WITHOUT ENGINE MANAGEMENT.

IMO I would start with the suspension. That is the weakest part of the car...especially the tires.

Take the intake back, or leave it on the shelf until you have read a lot. Tires and suspension are safe. Anything else requires EM and tuning. Tactrix is the open source DIY way. Cheapest, but most difficult/risky.
