Default DC-to-AC Power Inverter

So I have one of these:

and my question is..

Instead of using the cig lighter, would I be able to cut off that adapter and just use the power and ground directly somewhere? I'm trying to put that adapter somewhere clean and flush and I want to hide those wires.

I searched around and seen a couple people do it, but I wasn't sure if it was safe/possible.

Any input appreciated.

Thanks,
Getti
