droped some small particles in the engine chamber what the best way to take it out?

i am doing the TGV delete mod and i needed to sand out the left over gasket that had super heated to the block. i did stuff the open holes with some rags, but some how some of the left over particles still fell in. kinda small but it seems large enough to get me worried. so i want to take it out.

the mistake is done, but what is the best way to get it out now? the hole is pretty small, so i was gonna try the vacuum cleaner nozzle but the nozzle is larger then the holes.

any advice?

Vacuum is a good start, if you stuff a rag in the vacuum intakewith a smaller tube and then tape it up you can create a very small vacuum nozzle.

If you can actually see the dust, get a long stick like a pencil and wrap double stick tape around the end and you can pick up a lot with the tape.

The last option is to use compressed air with a long nozzle, it will blow most of the debris back out the top opening (watch your eyes).

That sort of dust and clean up dust will not cause any real problem if some of it gets in the engine, it will pass right through, but you should try to get as much as possible of it out before you start the engine.

Large solid objects like nuts bolts and screws down the intake absolutely must be physically removed but small dust like that is generally harmless.

thank you for your reply i was thinking of the vacuum with a smaller tube but i was looking for even more options. the particle is a little bit larger then dust. kinda like shavings, its just large enough to make me worried. if i blow in im also thinking it might just get past the valves and into it more. but again thanks for the advice. i do like your first one with the vacuum cleaner and the smaller tube. ill try that once i get the whole thing installed again.

magnet? if its metal shavings that would work for you.

The magnet would only work if the material was steel. The blocks, heads, and intake manifolds are all aluminum in our motors, though.

Go to an industrial hardware store or home depot and get some of the clear flexible plastic tube that you might use on a fish tank. You can get different diameters ( i think you can get from 1/4"- 2” ID) and make any length you want. Attach that to the vacuum with a reducer of some sort and you could snake it down into the hard to reach areas. Just an idea
