OK, just got my block internals back from the machine shop and am getting ready to get my hybrid back together. My one question is if there is a base ECU map that any of you have that will work with this setup below as a starting point? Please help as I blew up my last engine going too aggressive and don't want to repeat the experience.

Me, I would take a stock ECU map, rescale for the injectors, and set the rev limiter at 4k or so (set it low enough so theres no way you can spool the turbo). Work on part throttle during break-in and slowly raise the rev limiter while tuning for higher rpms. But that's just me.
Oh and how did you fit 95mm pistons in an STI block? talk about p/w clearence... ![]() |

Rebore at the machine shop. They're the WISECO regular bores so it should be ok? Also, what about timing as I compleltely changes this with more compression, displacement and especially the cams?

Dude, that's a heck of a lot of custom work to expect someone to have an acceptable map you can just slap on and go. You need to get it to a tuner who knows what the heck he's doing, and get it tuned in person ASAP. Reality check time.

I know man, not looking for a perfect map but just a starting point. I'm doing ALL the mech work myself and want to learn the tuning myself as well. Just don't want another $4K "mistake" and have tried to bulletproof this block as much as possible. That said, anyone got any tips on the timing?

Yup - 0.54 thickness to lower compression a little

I have a good enginuity base map for a 2.5 hybrid (OEM HG), Helix 850cc injectors, and Perrin 30r kit.
I ran utec over it for actual tuning, and it worked great. This map would be a good break-in map, assuming you have the same intake and can adjust for your injectors. PM me it you are interested. Worst case scenario, I can rescale the MAF for your intake. |

Drink, thx man and I definitely have your 2 build threads as a reference too so double thx man (your's and Jim's cars?). I'll email you in a sec about the map.
I think the oem head gaskets are all made from the same stuff as it is metal as well, just different thicknesses? At the very least, I've seen a few folks mention using the updated rs gasket for lower compression as I plan on running high boost eventually (25-32). Anyone else wanna chime in if this is safe or not as the heads have not gone on yet? Oh yeah, I gotta egt and a WB02 as well on the car. I was just stupid and was running it ~1750 for more than ten seconds at a time. |

. I will shoot that map over to you in a few here, I have two you can try.I believe the composite is the same as far as HG goes (vs. the STi), but the amount of layers are differnet IIRC. It's been a while since I took apart a RS. Most cometic enthusiats suggest a .58 thickness, so that can give you an idea of where you are going. I will take a micrometer to an OEM STi gasket later today if I get a chance. From what I have seen, if you have a turbo that can flow 30 psi efficiently, headgaskets eventually blow. That's big power territory and you may want to look into O-ringing the block and fitting some oversized studs. |
