Sometimes my car does not want to go into reverse. It has A LOT of resistance at the gate. If I put it back into neutral and try again a couple times it will go right in. Am I doing something wrong or what?

Double clutch. Clutch in, put it in neutral, clutch out, clutch in, put it in reverse. As Wamper said, synchroless.
Sometimes it also helps to slip into second first, then reverse (keep the clutch in the whole time) to line up the gears. I learned how to drive stick on a '69 GTO, so double-clutching comes natural to me ![]() |

Hahaha, its kinda funny. Cause sometime when it does it you're around a crowd of people. And when they hear ya clankin on reverse you get a lot of stairs.
Everyones advices is good advice. Just find what works for ya. |

guys...there is no special secret move required with the shifter.
If the car will not shift into reverse, LET OFF THE CLUTCH and then press it again, it will fall right into reverse. |

This is like this on ANY Manual Car. I don't care what make it is. But with Subaru it just happens alittle more often. Like they all said you just have to ge the gears lined up. Your sitting still so there is nothing to make the gears lined up. Even if you did have a syncro in first it would do nothing.
