I tried to search but didnt really know what to search for -
Anyway - totally hypothetical ![]() Say i take my car to dealership x, they deny fixing the warranty issue due to aftermarket parts, i remove said aftermarket parts, go to dealership y - Will they know my claim was denied at the other dealership?

Depends on what gets entered into the Subaru computer database about your car. Many have reported that Subaru asks dealers to enter details of major mods into the system. You should also consider that it is normally quite difficult to remove all evidence of mods/aftermarket parts, so a capable dealership may spot that you are not being truthful if you deny any mods.

All warranty denials need to reported to SOA. Dealers do not have the ability to deny warranty.

Once it is in the system everyone can see it. |

Depends,
If you are a whiney little ******* not only will I charge you for diagnostics time, I will record every mod on the car and enter it into SOA's system as well as alert the local dealers that I am friends with. If you play it cool I'll let it slide. For the record, even if you return it stock, we will know it has been tampered with so your best bet is to play it cool with the service guys and tell the truth. |

I think it is in the system. After talking to the SOA guy he told me that i needed to remove all the aftermarket parts and bring it back to the dealership for inspection to have the warranty on my engine reinstated. The current issue has nothing to do with the engine, but my cv boots on the passenger side front wheel are torn. They say that the inside one was melted by the downpipe(heatwrapped catless titek - not possible). The outer one they wont even try to explain, all they do is say "nope, not covered". |

arguably any power mods you have can be said to have increased the vehciles power in turn causing undue stress on the axles that could possible twist them in a manner and put them under stress to wich they were not designed resulting in the early failure of the boots. ![]() |

Inner one certainly can be caused by a downpipe, even wrapped ones (seen it a few times) as for the outer one, any suspension mods? I have seen cars where the strut hit the boot during install and put a small hole in it that eventually opened larger (done it myself as well)

If it helps, the CV axles are only like $50 from Autozone. I'd rather spend that money on my car than let a dealer touch it.

I have also seen problems stemming from aftermarket axles.

When SOA was not offering remans for a year we were sourcing ours locally (probably the same ones that Vatozone sells) and we had to replace 1 of every 3 that we installed, as opposed to none of the factory remans. |

I'll be damned. I have one, but I don't think I've had an autox since I installed it. We'll see.

Cost me $20 for a boot and 2 hours to change. Not bad, I got to learn about the car too, but unnecessary none-the-less. |

yeah like blackfang said, the boots are covered 3/36, the actual joints and shaft are covered under the powertrain warranty. But most joints fail because the boots leak and all the grease gets flung out.
But for example if you had a noisey joint and the boot is intact that would be covered under the powertrain warranty. |
