So I have gotten pretty fed up with the light scratches and swirls I have found on my car lately and was wondering if anyone had any buffers they could recommend. I have used several waxes and stuff but next year Im gonna be attending less track events and more shows. I have gone to a couple local Auto Zones, Pep Boys , Advanced Auto Parts, etc and dont know what to look for really. The buffer will probably be used to buff 3-4 cars 1-3 times a year. Any product s you guys can recommend to use in conjunction with the the buffer like chemicals , pads, etc?

You will find that the PC 7424 is the industry standard when it comes to random orbitals. I have one and love it. It's nearly idiot-proof, as long as you know the basics and do your homework. Good luck.

Check out autopia.org It has a wealth of information for detailing. Porter cable or the ultimate detailing machine are great for a starter. I prefer rotary buffers but those take a bit of experience to use well.

Yea I think everyone and their mom (seriously, the vast majority) of us start out and/or are currently using the PC 7424.

Porter Cable, SFX1-3 pads, and SFX1-3 polish. autopia.org has very good write-ups and videos on how to properly use the PC. Just keep the thing moving and you should be ok.

I have a Porter Cable 7336..essentially the same as the 7424 but I like the counterweight better. Cheapo lake county pads and the usual 303,zaino, p21 treatment.
These guys are right tho - autopia is pretty much your salvation. You're in Boston (crappy winters) also it looks like - does your car stay outside all the time or do you garage? You may want to take that inot consideration for what products you use. |

I really like the Griot's garage one. I have had it for about 2 years now and have loved it since i bought it. I only used it twice a year (once before and after winter) and thats all i need to keep my car looking perfect. I highly suggest it....

watch meguiars online for their traveling detail show. Worth the Saturday afternoon. They sell a reboxed PC & have a full line of products available through the professional line that is very reasonably priced & work awesome.
