Default detailing work with a circular motion or no?

When you're doing detailing, anything like washing the car, drying it, polishing, swirl remover, wax application, wax removal, etc. Are you supposed to just go straight back and forth, or go in a circular motion?

Never move in circular motions, that's how swirl marks are formed in the first place! It is recommended to move in the direction wind flows over the surface of your car. So basically side-to-side.

Ya I agree with this. I go the same direction as the wind. By doing it in swirls it'll add to the spider web effect which is what you're trying to get rid of by waxing in the first place...
From bumper to windshield on the hood, from front to back on the roof, from glass to rear bumper for the back, from front to back on the sides.

It should not matter. If you are moving in a certain direction, you are trying to "hide" defects, instead of fixing them.

Apply your wax in a back-and-forth motion, not in circles. If you are creating swirls, you need to replace your applicator or towels.

back and forth.

Although I wash in a different direction then I dry. That way if marring does show up, I know which process it occurred during.
