More like 2.75... I have my set of black/red OEM 16s, a set of 17" 5Zigens for auto-x, and 3 extra OEM wheels... I'm trying to figure out if I should sell the 3 OEMs or find a fourth for a set of snow tires (moving to the midwest soon).

I also have 2 Rota Attacks, but they have huge holes in them... I need to get rid of those

This thread has inspired me to paint my own wheels, but I have a couple questions for those of you that have already done it.

How did you position the wheel for painting? Just flat on the ground? How did you get the inside of the wheel done then? Any tips for preventing drips, or general recommendations for how you would do it next time? They look awesome, great job by everyone.

First, I taped off the wheels so that the inner dish portion was covered in paper. I also taped off the surface where the tire bead would seal. THen, I painted the back part first, rolling the wheel along the ground and spraying the interior. Then, I got 2 folgers coffee cans and taped them together. I put the wheel on top of this makeshift stand such that it was lying flat but suspended above the ground so that the back side (that was freshly painted) did not touch the ground. Then I sprayed the front. I repeated for each coat.

If I were to do it over again, I'd emphasize more coats of paint with less paint per coat. Sometimes you get anxious to see the result and spray a bit too much. I found that the OEM wheels were hard to paint and get a uniform texture on all the surfaces of the wheel, especially the parts between the spokes. I would say just take your time.

Cool thread! Here are a few older shots of my car. Professionally painted BBS stockers - color was a choice from Ford. If I'm not mistaken, the color was an exterior stock color from a Taurus

Not off the top of my head. It was a while ago. I'm going to be by the bodyshop sometime this week and I'll try to re-find it in the book for you!

Nice color! I just can't believe you went through all that work and then let someone hose up the new paint with wheel weights.

Here are my black 6-spokes:

I bought them this way so I can't say much about how they were painted.

Also I should probably wash my car. And paint it. And fix that rust...

hahah, yeah I know. But less weight is needed on the edge vs on the inner hoop. And losing the ones on the inner hoop sucks too! I've had that happen a million times. Those yokos were so perfect only two wheels needed any weight at all!

I do admit on my new wheels I have the weights on the inside though.
