Default 2008 STI intercooler core size?

Anyone know the dimensions of the 08 TMIC core? How much bigger is it than the 04-07?

TIA

08 STI intercooler is on the left, 07 STI intercooler is on the right. 08 STI has 3.6% more volume.

I just did a quick count on the rows of fins in the 2008 STi intercooler.

38.

Compared to 34 rows on the 04-07.

I overlayed the two in photoshop and scaled them accordingly. The 2008 STi intercooler looks to be ~2in wider than previous years, or however wide 2 rows of fins are... (I'll measure and post up...).

There are a few cutaways showing my older 04 intercooler so you can see where they line up/etc...

The 08 TMIC core dimensions are:
width: 21 5/8"
height: 7.5"
depth: 3"

It is definitely wider than before, but seems to have pretty much the same depth and height.

I have been wondering this myself, but from talking to a few people they say it shouldn't be that hard. "crosses fingers" I very interested in this top mount, if the right price comes along I will definitely grab one.

It should fit fine as long as you add the new mount on the passenger side.....although, in looking at the new mount it doesn't bolt up to the same place so one may have to "adjust" the factory mount from the previous models to get it to fit.

I have the 08 sti ic and im having a hard time getting it to mount. You have to use the 02-07 mounts, PLUS another mount that apears to bolt onto GBOD.... I havent had any luck getting it to work on my 04 wrx I think if you want to run this piece you have to have the 06-07 coolant tank plus a different GBOD. Not sure yet, but I will take pictures in a bit

My work was done at the shop i go to...i right now have the 08 sti tmic with a vf43 setup...the intercooler will fit just fine..you just need to extend the bracket on the passenger side about a INCH or so with another extension type that will bolt down to the stock mounting spot, extending it further out to make it fit on the 08! my description probably blow...hahah just trying to help

p.s ill try to post up pics soon!

I am trying to track the changes done with the V8 Spec C Intercooler.
I've read the FAQ and I think it refers to the rear endtank center "gap", as an improved flow modification.
I am looking at miscelaneous photos of JDM V8 Sti intercoolers, and they all seem to have this center "gap" in the rear. So I'm guessing that this design improvement, first tried with the Spec C became mainstream for JDM Sti intercoolers.
Where I'm getting with this, is that in a post above, I see that the 08 Sti intercooler appears to now also have this improved endtank design.
Due to how the photoshop overlay was done, I am not able to confirm this however. So, my question is:
Does the USDM 08 Sti intercooler look like in the diagram drawing, with a "gap" in the rear endtank, or is this endtank continuous for US?

I actually just replaced my just replaced my 2006 sti tmic intercooler with a 2008 intercooler. To answer some peoples questions from what i can tell is that the fin density is higher on the than the previous years and it is about 4 or 5 rows longer. The only thing you have to do to install the intercooler a least on a previous years sti is extend the pasenger side bracket by a inch or two It also has the center gap that Vlad was talking about. Also it is a cheap mod because I sold my stock sti tmic intecooler on ebay for more than I bought the 2008 intercooler for.

It is normal to fab a new bracket for larger intercoolers. My father in law fabbed one up for me that is very strong I'll try to find it and post pics as I'll need to use it again of make another for the 08 sti intercooler I just picked up

Aah, forgot I hadn't updated this yet...

But I have the real thing now:

Bolted right up... 1/2 of the passenger bracket is the same as the old STi IC bracket... there is a second bracket that bolts to it and the passenger green bracket of death, but I opted to leave both passenger brackets off...

I need to order me one of those...

What did you do about the sealing gasket between the hood and intercooler?

Never had one...IC seems to work just fine w/o it...I used to have a pair of temp sensors in my old core, IC would cool to ambient within seconds of getting up to highway speed...

I have one, same level of sealing as OEM, I've put it together from 2 OEM gaskets. I'll take a photo soon.
