Question ej20tt into 93 legacy??

i see all these posts sayin that the steering shaft stops the ej20tt from going into usdm cars because the uppipe interferes with the steering shaft...if there is a problem with the drivers side uppipe hitting the steering arm couldn't the uppipe and turbo be removed and blocked off. i am thinkin of buying the ej20tt myself for a 93 legacy project mainly becuase im on a tight budget ( the army doesnt pay much lol) and if the drivers side uppipe is a problem i figure block it off and swap the other turbo to a tdo4. do you think that this would work??
let me know what you guys think. i havent had a lot of time with subarus but had done so many other cars and to me a block off plate would be the easiest solution.
