Can anyone confirm who manufactures Cosworth Cams? I have heard it's Kelford in NZ,

The kelford cams are about a year old, and the Cossie's were ordered about 3 months ago.
Both Engines: the one on the right equipped with Kelfords, the one on the left with Cosworth cams. ![]() Cosworth cams closeup: ![]() Kelford cams closeup: ![]() Sorry for the late response. Hope that helps. If kelford doesn't manufacture Cosworth cams it sure appears to me that they at the very least use the same blanks. My bet would be that Kelford indeed does manufacture Cosworths cams. The similarities are too numerous. Last edited by MartinSTi05; 07-10-2008 at 03:32 PM. |

I have the non-AVCS Cosworth 275 cams in my build and my engine guy told me at the time I bought mine that they where made by Kelford. When I swapped heads my head guy wanted to know specs of the cams like lift at .050 which wasn't stated in the included Cosworth info. I contacted Kelford about the cams I had and they had confirmed they were the same as their 199-E cams which they advertise as a 272 cam(they use a different checking height). That was then, since then Cosworth has supposedly taken over production but I bet the specs have remained the same.

I heard that they are made by Kelford, but when I was doing some research I called Cosworth to try to find out more info on them...
All I got was that they are both made using similar chill casted cores. So, I drew this conclusion - they are made using the same raw materials... but might be made by Kelford/used to be made by Kelford, or perhaps they buy the raw cores from Kelford. |

This link shows what BC cams look like. Notice how much different they are from the Kelford/Cosworth AVCS cams. My bet is that Cosworth will tell you the cores are the same because they indeed are. Whereas they will not tell you about the machining because you can't readily see the differences/similarities in it. |

That link shows what FACTORY STI cams look like. I have 3 sets of BC cams in my possession right now, and they look very similar to the Cosworth and Kelford Cams I've installed in the past. If you want pictures, I'll post them tomorrow when I get back into the shop. |

i know this may be a bit off topic, but kelford cams are a direct drop in with no modification necessary correct? other than springs and retainers needing to change? also just wondering if anyone knows how they compare to any other good brands on the market ie jun, rigoli?

I believe they are the reference cam, many others as mentioned are made under license buy companys like Kelford.
My 264/264 were a direct replacement, but not qualified to comment further. |

I see why Cosworth and possibly BC went with Kelford cores at the least. Whether they are machined by Kelford is a different story.
Kelford is one of the only companies that produces reliable and quality cams for subies. ![]() |
