Thumbs up 555 Motorsports (merged thread)

I searched and didn't come up with a vendor review for 555 Motorsports so I decided to post my own experience so far.

Just a brief background story. I had an upcoming turbo upgrade project and needed to track down a base map to support all the new mods. Mods included turbo, injectors, SSAC TMIC, GM BCS, and Tial EWG (plus the existing TBE and a couple other things). Initially I was going to go with a map from a well known internet tuner, but found out that I wasn't going to be able to. So I searched around and came across 555 Motorsports.

I emailed 555 Motorsports to explain the situation and heard back the next day from Mathew. This was a few weeks before the install day. Mathew was EXTREMELY helpful even with the first couple emails, and explained the details of what he does as far as internet tuning. I told him that I wanted to wait to pay (and didn't need the map yet) because the project wasn't ready. He was very understanding, and didn't hesitate to help answer questions I had, not only of the tune but of the project in general.

Fast forward to last week. I contacted Mathew again and told him I was ready for the map, and needed it by Saturday if at all possible. Again, his response was very prompt. I sent payment on (I believe) Wednesday night. Mathew responded late Wednesday night, like around midnight or so. A couple emails were exchanged regarding questions and whatnot, and by 11am the next morning I had my base map. I know Mathew was working on it until LATE Thursday morning, which completely impressed me.

Another fast forward. I loaded the map after the project last night. I haven't yet datalogged anything quite yet to send in for revisions, but I can say that the base map has made my car run smooth and strong...love it! I'm really looking forward to having Mathew tweak it here and there to see what we can get out of the car.

A HUGE thank you thus far in the tune process to Mathew. Very helpful and knowledgeable!

I guess I'm confused by the last couple responses. Yes, Mathew created an open-source base map for me, and will be tweaking it according to datalogs I'll be sending him via email in the next few weeks. I said 'internet tuning' because you can pay for the services over the internet, then communicate via email.

Why the surprise? I'm tired and confused.

Glad to see you are happy with the services, and yes for you guys who don't know we do offer internet tuning. Basicly its a step above and more customized to your car than an OTS map. Its a nice option for those who don't have a tuner close or need a basemap to get a tune and get everthing dialed in.

If you guys have any questions about it, feel free to PM me or give me a call

Wow, I need to chime in here. I just got a whole HELL of a lot of parts installed - turbo, TMIC, cams, fuel system, complete exhaust, and was supposed to get tuned by one of the local vendors. Long story short, I needed a fuel pump installed as the one we were planning on didn't work out, and they couldn't do it and tune the same day, so I was in a bad spot, since the next option was a week and a half away. I ended up picking up a fuel pump on my own, and we called Matt hoping he could help.

Well, he did, and then some!
Not only was he available to save the day on NO advance notice, he got the car running amazingly well. He sent us a base map, we drove the car and sent him the logs. Then he revised the map, we ran that one, sent more logs, got a new map, etc. etc. I'm on the 5th map and it is damn near perfect. It idles so smoothly, is a lot less boggy/rough than my Stage II. Driveability is amazing. It's already at 5/6psi @ 3000 RPM, it peaks at 22psi around 3800, and holds 19 to redline. Wow.

We're running this map until he comes to Chicago next, then it's dyno time.
Nothing but rave reviews here.

+1 for Matt!!!

Dude came to my house, helped me change out a clutch, and THEN he tuned my V5 swap (LinkPlus standalone). I couldn't find anyone else willing to try the Link.

He did it all at a great price too.

Thanks again, Matt!

Hey brad, long time no see... yours was one of the first cars i did in chicago, before working with DS1, Komet or anything. Glad your still loving the car... I remember the look on ur wife's face and comment when you told her you can actually drive the car ...wasn't it something like "so you can sell the other car now"

Matt,
Got a 10AM appointment @ P&L tomorrow to get the car dynoed, and then once again after you tune it here. Want to make any predictions/guesses?

To date Matt and I have gone through about 9 map revisions.
Every map gets more and more impressive, it seems flaws in my mods/the car which is what Matt has to work around but I am still happy.
Still happy to recommend his internet tuning.

He had to tune from stock to :
-an upgraded TMIC
-TBE
-FPR
-18g turbo
-Ported manifold elbows+cross pipe

Il be happy to show anyone my logs during the map change transitions

Yes Matt is a great tuner, I met him for the first time 2 weeks ago, he had a killer map ready for my car and had it dialed in about 1hr. Nice guy with lots of knowledge! Im just lucky enough to live in the same state.

I actually got tuned by Matt today, Loaded his base Stage II map, took about 20-30minutes to dial in and bam car runs like a champ! 40whp and 50wtq increase of stock with a catted helix dp and a 2.75" taper in my greddy sp2. He'll most likely be tuning me again in teh future if i do stuff , which odds are i will

I got tuned by Matt yesterday. he is the 3rd tuner I have been with now and I must say his customer service has been unmatched. Being in Indiana it is almost like the wrong state to own a subaru. you have to go to another state for any sort of shop that is willing to mess with a Subaru and all of them have there fans and flamers

he got me a base map promptly I had some parts issues but with some dedicated wrenching of my own I got the car to him yesterday with a solid setup.

he was beyond accommodating to me, calls and emails at anytime of the day or night. not having to wait days to get a reply. he answered any questions I had about parts, tuning, driveability, troubleshooting, etc. he is very knowledgeable about all aspects of these cars

the tune is great, it was road tuned and that was another experience on its own lol. not sure if I will get dynoed anytime soon, maybe if there is some sort of dyno day I feel like attending, but we only have 1 AWD in Indiana and it reads high IMO.

I wouldn't let anyone else tune my car.

I want to get mine to P&L's dyno, since I've had all of my setups dyno'ed there, and that seems to be the one that most people around here use as a reference. If I go, you should consider it too. While Komet's is the heartbreaker, P&L's is pretty close to most Dynojets nationwide and is a good comparison. Your car was the HTA Green?

yep mine is the HTA green (good things you heard I hope) lol, was supposed to be a FP Red, then ATP GT35r, but both of those did not work out so FP rescued my a$$ and got me the HTA the next day

What do you think of it? Matt had nothing but good things to say about it. I was hoping it would have gotten on the dyno...then again I was hoping mine would too.

Damn clutches.

yeah its pretty strong, its not quite as big of a turbo as I planned but its a nice upgrade, probably take it to US41 in a few weeks see what it will trap compared to my 20g. need to get a few logs going to see how it spools vs the 20g, but really on the street it feels as fast spool if not quicker, but logs are the truth

One thing I have to say is that Matt gets things to spool reallly well. On a more aggressive map, before we backed it off some, I was hitting full boost @ 3100RPM. That was crazy.
