Default FT: Looking for a quieter catback

I bought a full 3" custom catback (N1 style) a while back so I could upgrade to Stg. 2. It looks and sounds great, but it is a bit loud for me. I am willing to trade this exhaust + some cash for a quieter exhaust. I'll do the swap as well, provided that you have tools and a place to do it. Please post up if you are interested. Also, if you are local, I'd be glad to let you ride along and see how it sounds.

Pics will be up tonight. Thanks in advance,

Ellys

Note: This system does not include a resonator or silencer. It is straight thru 3" piping to an N1 style muffler.

Edit: Only considering aftermarket catbacks. Thanks

Here are the pics as promised, and just because I'm a nice guy, a bonus video!

Just to clarify, I'm willing to drive to your place and do the swap myself. Come on people, this is a MEAN exhaust!

Hey man, thanks a bunch for the offer, but I'm looking for something a little more low key in the looks department. Good luck finding a loud exhaust though...

Is it the round tip or the oval tip? Let me know. Thanks!

Hey, WRX580: Not only do we both have stage 2 2004 aspen white wrx's but i had the same problem as you about a week or so ago. I got a full turboback to go stage 2 about 6 months or so ago. But it was loud as hell and I couldn't put up with it every day. So what I did was take my car to a muffler shop with my stock axel back and had them weld a reducer and a flange on the aftermarket midpipe. Basically what I've got now is a full 3inch exhaust all the way to the axel where a stock axelback will bolt up.

Works great. I'm not feeling any power loss and if anything boost hits quicker(maybe just my imagination). But, most importantly it's quiet at highway speeds. It is quieter AND sounds better than the exhaust I had on there. Plus, it makes you look like less of a ricer. If you don't like the dual tip thing that the stock axelback has then you can just unbolt it and install a prodrive or sti axelback.

Just saw this. Thanks for the advice, man! I was actually running my stock catback with a 3" dp for a while when I was looking for an exhaust. I think I still want to stick with something aftermarket, and the Prodrive exhausts that you mentioned are right down my alley. I thought I'd found a round tip in Tenn. to trade with me, but he never followed up. Anyway, I'm still searching. I just want the Suby rumble without the drone!

Oh, and Adam: if I end up just buying something else (which it looks like may happen) I'll sell you the exhaust back for cheap
