In no way do i condone street racing of any kind. But there is another type of rally that isnt based on speeding. This rally can be seen on one of the epidsodes of periodicreview.com ( i cant remember which one, but its on one of them) . This one incorporates a type good sense of direction and timing. You are given a certain amount of time to get to a certain area (ie the lake) then you must take certain roads at ceratin speed limits to get to that point. When you reach that point the closest one to the time that they are supposed to arrive wins. Sounds silly, but looks pretty cool.

Really i could care less about how we get there, i am more interested in food and fishing.

Anybody else have any other ideas?
ya, thats a road rally... the scca actually puts on events like that. they actually have rules on their site

Here is what I am thinking rules are to be. I have not yet confirmed these rules, but opinions are welcome. Please note that these rules are unique and are NOT meant to follow or simulate the SCCA road rally rules:
1. All cars entering must arrive and be ready to begin by target time.
2. All cars must display sponsorship stickers on select body panel parts(if sponsorship is offered).
3. All highway/street speed limits are to be obeyed. If a driver is caught going above the speed limit, an automatic disqualification is issued.
4. Any ticket issued by a police officer to a driver during the duration of the rally means automatic disqualification.
5. No GPS system is to be used to preserve fairness and equality.
6. 2 categories are available. One for Solo class (where a car is driven solely by a driver and contains no passengers) and another for Dual class (where a car must contain at least 1 driver and 1 navigator. Additional occupants are allowed).
7. Cars exceeding the allotted time to arrive at the destination are automatically disqualified.
8. If a vehicle is to arrive before the minimum time limit a time penalty will be issued.
9. If there is to be a middle checkpoint, all cars participating must check in at the middle checkpoint.

Also, all cars must pass safety inspection which includes the following criteria:
- Cars must run on gasoline, diesel or ethanol 85 as a primary source of fuel. Alcohol/methanol/water injection is allowed as long as the vehicle uses one of the three mentioned fuels.
- Cars with relocated batteries must be contained in a battery box. It does not have to be NHRA approved, but must be within DOT compliance or in a secure fashion.
- All cars must have at least 1 spare tire inflated to the manufacturer recommended settings.

if its a new one, are you new to subarus or have you owned one before?

also, papafrito: i seem to remember your car at the office max meet, but i dont remember meeting you...

is anybody interested in just an informal get together? grab something to eat or something at someplace accomodating to a large group with people coming/going. maybe a chinese buffet? just throwing that out there. im pretty much free weekends anymore since i quit my night job.

I got a new one actually. It's a 2008 red sedan. I just picked it up last night and I am so in love with it!! I know everyone thought that I should wait till the 2009s come out but I got a pretty good deal on it. It's speedy enough for me!!

I have never owned a Subaru before. I am a recent convert. My brother (Papafrito) got the new 2008 and I just feel in love with them! Before getting my WRX, I was a VW fan. But a jetta simply cannot compete with how I feel about this car.

I know Papafrito and I would be interested in meeting up!! When were you thinking???

the thing is, we would have to determine the minimum time... either that or use a course the scca already has lined out and use their times

edit: or enter a scca road rally event

Since I have a good tire gauge, I volunteer to check that everyone's spare is filled to manufacturer specifications...don't want anyone cheating and having a half empty spare. We might also add a stock class, and a modified class.

Springs should be easy, coilovers are easier, as long as you're careful to use a good spring compressor...autozone does loan a tool. You using stock struts, or is this a strut/spring combo? Working Saturday, and Sunday should be putting in my wideband and SS clutch line, maybe even get off my ass and put my amps in. Soon I will have every weekend off, or rack up a bit of overtime if I go in.

As for meets, if it's just stand around in a parking lot, kinda meh. But I'm down to hit up some twisties for some spirited driving and whatnot.

Spring. I am going to probably go to Autozone to get the compressor, but i need to find a breaker bar.... Something about a bolt that is torqued pretty tight.. Oh well we will see how the instructions are that come with it.

BTW got those springs for a steal.. STi Pinks 158.00! Org 440.
