Default Does the JDM WRX MY2006+ have an immobilizer

So I am looking to do a swap into my BD Legacy, and I was looking at the EJ255, but it looks like the immobilizer, at least on the USDM ones, makes that swap a pain in the ass. Do the JDM WRX's have it as well?

The swap isnt a pain in the ass if you get at least one key with the immobilizer ECU combo. Only the key and antenna need to be near each other... no one said the key that starts the car needs a chip in it!
Besides you could always rewire it to use a 2004 STI ecu.

Ok I thought I saw something that said all MY2006+ WRX's were EJ255, but I guess that must have been wrong. I will probably go JDM because so far that is where I have found the best deals, so I guess it is probably easiest just to get an EJ205 and not have to worry about the immobilizer and still have more power than the USDM EJ205 because of the AVCS.

Any other opinions on the mater?

Thanks

edit: do any of the JDM WRX GD EJ205 have immobilizers?

so then all the cars with the factory option immobilizer would have an ecu that would require the immobilizer unit and the key? If so does anyone know how to tell the difference between the two so I could make sure to get a non immobilizer ecu for my swap?

as far as i can tell the jdm 20k/207/205 immobilizer is different than the 255/257 its a single pin on the ecu and some slightly different wireing which you should be able to get around .. i have never seen one but its in the diagrams

basically i wouldn't worry about it if your after a 205 usdm or jdm

cool, thanks for the info. One more question, did the jdm wrx's go drive by wire in 2006 like the usdm ones, or where they before/after?
