Default So... what am I in for, exactly...

Let me preface this by saying that the fastest car I have ever driven for more than a few blocks was a B16 swapped Civic CX hatch that I once owned. Cams, all the bolt ons, etc. I think it was roughly a low, low 14 second car, with absolutely no torque. Other than that I've owned a handful of VWs and a few beaters. Never anything with more than 180ish HP at the crank.

So, right now my GC8 is undergoing a USDM EJ257 STi swap with all the Stage 2 goodies. TBE with a catless DP, engine management, etc. I am retaining the stock transmission for the time being due to cost. I am of course going with an upgraded clutch.

Which brings me to my actual question: What am I in for? How much faster is this car going to be than anything I've ever driven? My RS was so slow... hahaha. I just don't know what to expect from this swap. What makes it even worse, is that for the time being I'm also running stock brakes.

What am I looking at? Stage 2 mods on an EJ257 usually net around 400ish hp and ft/lbs of tq, right? A little less on the HP? My GC8 only weighs around 2800 lbs. The stock gearbox has really tight gearing. What kind of quarter miles would this car pull, should I choose to drag race it? (which I probably won't since I'd rather not destroy the stock transmission right away)

I'm a little scared. Stoked for sure, but intimidated. Maybe I shouldn't have read the "Do you really want 400 WHP" thread.

Your likely going to eat that transmission for breakfast/lunch/dinner, it is also going to be scary fast when you first get it. Lots of pucker factor.

400 to the engine maybe i would think between 300-350 whp but idk?

cause you've got to remember on AWD you loose alot of power through the crank and rear diff
either way hold the f*#* on

I'm going to shift it like an old lady, thats for sure. Hopefully the clutch gives a little before the tranny does. Without any hard launching or powershifting it should stand up for at least a little while, right? As long as I don't drive it like an idiot?

Pucker... hahaha. Nice.

Oh, yeah, numbers I threw up earlier were at the crank. Not wheels.

Just with my limited experience w/ the WRX's, I just swapped a 2.0L WRX Full Stage II motor for an 04 STI STGII and the difference is huge!!! So with your setup, I would assume that you should rebuild the wallet fast for the new tranny...you will need sooner than later. And "Hold on to your seats Ladies and Gentlemen, get ready for the ride of your life!!"

I'm still curious what kind of times this sort of setup typically throws down in the quarter mile.

New undies in backpack ready for maiden voyage. Check.

Your car is not a GC8 its a GME? A GC8 would be a 4 door with a 2 liter turbo engine.

1/4 mile times will most likely be DNF.

That said the car will be fast, insanely fast if you have 4.11 finals. You need a better clutch though. Even a brand new stock clutch will slip on a STOCK 300hp STI swap. I speak from experience(lol). An ACT HD pressure plate and sprung 6 puck would be a good match for streetability and performance.

Edit: I think the part number is sub-hdg6

And yeah, the clutch is being upgraded.
