Default STI heads

I am planning on building my motor for a 30r. I have an 07 wrx. Just had a quick question about the STI heads. Is it even worth getting the STI heads because I plan on doing alot of head work (P & P, cams, valves, springs, ect.) Also, is it possible to just mount the heads onto my shortblock with my ecu, or would I have to get an STI EC
U?

I believe USDM STi heads do not flow much more than wrx heads at all, especially after pnp. JDM spec C type RA heads and the like flow more and have bigger valves. I'm also pretty sure that you can run stock ecu, with a tune of course, with usdm sti heads. Don't quote me though. You might want to try a different sub-forum for more input.

unless you're doing a whole swap for the AVCS, the advantage is probably nill

The only reason I would do it is for the AVCS. SO pretty much I am asking is it worth it.

Uh...the 06+ wrx's already have AVCS. To my understanding the only difference in heads is the cams from the factory. I'd just p+p the heads you have now.

as said, stick with your wrx heads and do the head work on them, their is no benefit in your situation for sti heads

wouldn't pairing the STI block with WRX heads make better power?

would that mean you'd have to run less boost since the compression is higher?
