so, anyone know of a place that needs people?

SICK of my current position:
in the past 6 months ive turned my part of the business into the best in the district,

theyve added responsibilities like training other people from the disctrict and traveling to other stores to train them. Now its even expanded between other districts as people are coming from Wester MA/New York to train with me.


and yet.....no raise, im training people that make more money than me

my company (an environmental consulting firm) is looking for a possible contract web developer for a specific project, to provide a custom web front end for a proprietary datalogging suite. If anybody's interested, I can point you to the current publicly visible bit provided by the datalogging company to see if it's something you can figure out how to work with.

there's potential for this to be a recurring job, but it's unlikely to lead to a full time position.

You might want to contact Accountemps for this one. I worked for Robert Half (briefly - just wasn't my bag) and they are almost always looking for good people to help their clients during tax time. Even without direct tax experience you should be able to get something P/T with them. I can put you in touch with someone in the Hartford, CT office who can give you an honest opinion on what they can and can't do for you.

I can't recommend Thermo Fisher, unless you really like being a single tooth on 30,000 tooth cog. My personal experience is that the group I am in gets no benefit from being a part of Thermo. They have bought so many companies and merged them into our group, laying off all the original staff that the two main companies that were initially bought to form Thermo Environmental Instruments pretty much handle R&D/Sustaining Engineering for another 3-5 companies. I don't like this corporate mentality, at all, and so many jobs have been lost in the name of Thermo profit.

There would be a better budget and closer control of the company if our group, which is rather independent, were not owned by this gigantic corporation.

This is why I'm applying for a job at Insight. I want to get out of this terrible company.

I hate TF....they laid me off. But for someone in the scientific area they might be ok. I had a ****ty office job...apparently admins are replaceable just get the QA manager and a few chemists to do my work. If we eliminated some of the big guys we could save a lot of little guys. We had 3 big presidents in our building imagine their salaries.

I just hate that it happened right before the holidays and now I have to pay $400 per month for Cobra.

I've been looking hard for a job for a while in the video production/editing or multimedia (schools, companies, hospitals) fields. I don't have a job at all right now, so it's crucial I get one ASAP to pay the bills and such. Therefore, I'm widening my search quite a bit towards anything besides sales/food services. I don't have mechanical experience, but I'd love to work in the automotive field as well... although if not sales, that probably leaves me with part counters or the like...

Anyway, here's my experience:

- BA in Communications with an emphasis in Media Arts from WCSU
- 8 summers working for the DEP at Macedonia State Park... mostly maintenance, but plenty of public assistance, and leadership involved.
- 2 years working for WCSU's Media Services. This included customer service, keeping track of the school's media equipment, training of new employees, using all types of media equipment including filming with 3CCD cameras and editing with Avid and some Premiere Pro.

I'll be living in Danbury, CT, so anything within say an hour of there... I'm open to many things, so just give me a PM if anyone needs someone. I'll be applying to Home Depot and the like this week.
