Totally in before the lock on this one.

By the way, they made crappy 4 banger mustangs in the 80s, then they made the much more rare SVO mustang which was a 4 cyl. turbo with a top mounted charge air cooler (Much like Subaru) and was actually pretty cool for its day.

TRUE. But i think everyone has played around in a moment of weakness from time to time. I don't think the OP was talking about lining up on front street at 2 am or anywhere in particular. Just male ego as far as "you're not getting there before me" etc..... I'm guilty of that once in a while.

That may be true, But Nasioc typically does not tolerate anything regarding any type of demonstration of speed on public roads. They never end well.... and all get locked/deleted.

I can see both sides of the fence. I will definately never start a street racing thread. However.. and hypotheticly, would talking about a guy trying to cut you off getting to a merge point or even not letting you merge onto the highway and then failing miserably because his/her car was slower count as an infraction??? I'd bet that everyone on this site has had a situation like that come up before. I do not condone street racing at all. Having extra power out in the real world will always have its benefits too.

I count my wins and losses differently.

Friends 1998 Mustang 4.6L GT. Towed it out of snow banks three times last year. Laughed all the way home. And I know I can take him in the 1/8th mile and out corner him by a mile, but that's a different story.

New Toyota, 12-15" deep puddle. Pretty blond driver. Toyota 0, puddle 1. I drove through the puddle to hook up my straps and tow her out. After I got her out I then hit the puddle at about 20mph and drove away laughing.

There have been many times the Baja has shown just how capable it is and speed isn't the biggest thing. Yes, it's plenty fast stock. Yes, it corners like it's on rails, stock. It's a darned good 4X4 stock. It can be improved on as a lot of they people here have proved. Beating a 06 Vette isn't what the Baja is about but I'll bet there are one or two on this forum that could do it.

I prefer to enjoy the music at 65mph, with the air on, while there's 6 inches of rain on the road, or driving past Tundra's stuck in the snow while my heated seats keep me warm and I feel the LSDs kicking in on slipperly spots.

You don't "race". You endanger peoples lives on the road. You try to block people from merging into your lane. You drive at high rates of speed on public roads, in some sort of "competition" with other vehicles.

If you want to race you should do it at a proper location. There are families out there on the road with you, children, elderly, people's sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, people's pets.
