Default Official 2.0 Big Turbo log (600+ CFM)

I know that in the past we've had a few random 'big turbo 2.0' threads, but after searching I can't find much of substance. So I'm starting this Official thread, and if anyone finds some of the past threads, I will gladly put a link to them in this post. We close threads like this often saying 'Search N00b! ' but after my own searchage, I realized that maybe that's not so helpful as it could be, so here it is .

I know 600CFM is not exactly massive, but it's a good starting point on the little baby 2.0.

EJ207s are MORE than welcome here. It would be blaspheme to keep out the best 2.0 Subaru has to offer (if not to us here in Amurrica ).

1. Exact motor
2. Internal work, if any
3. If you post numbers, please include a graph if possible. And since I'm a number-nazi, also post the type of dyno, the fuel used, and the elevation. Do NOT just come in and say 'My FP Green makes 734whp' or your post WILL be edited/deleted . I'm sick of seeing misleading whp numbers with no reference point to make an accurate comparison.
4. If possible, post up at LEAST trap speeds in the 1/4 mile if you have any, as it's probably the most accurate way to gauge real power.
5. Also, if possible, post your impressions of your current setup vs. anything smaller, so people have an idea what to expect in terms of driveability, etc...

Oh, and Merry Christmas

2003 Wrx
stock 2.0 liter ej205
APS SR40
Turbo XS FMIC
Cusco Headers Non-wrapped
Turbo XS full 4"DP & full 3" exhaust
Grimmspeed EWG UP, Tial 38mm WG
Perrin fuel rails, PE 650's
UTEC
blah, blah, blah

Dyno graph listed below was pre-EWG, w/ a pre-turbo exhaust leak, and before switching to a SD tune I did.

1. Completely stock EJ205
2. None
3. Run was made on VP MS109 with a peak of 21psi, dyno is a Dynocom (Stock STI's dyno 220-230whp here), Not too sure about elevation here in SFL but pretty sure it's damn close to sea level. 355whp/315wtq. Sorry in advance for the crappy san. I tried to contrast it better

Maybe you can see betther here:

According to my logs, full boost (18psi) is achieved @ 4300 rpm depsite what the graphs look like.

4. Never taken it to the track
5. Can't really compare to anything else since my car sat for about 2 years and it's been a loooong time since I've had the stock TD04.

This was my old setup:

-Stock Ej205 Block/heads
-Fpgreen 2.4inlet 7cm oil cooled running 23psi on Pump Gas. no meth.
-Spec C intake manifold
-GtSpec Unequal length header and up pipe (3-bolt)
-3 inch Turbo back (perrin dp and blitz nur spec)
-5spd at the time.
-And 94 oct pump.
-360whp and 308tq
-Mustang dyno (PIA in Tacoma,Wa)
-Tuned my Master2192 RIP.

I had an gasket leak pre turbo on my dyno pulls so didnt make the best torque. Here is my old Proven Power Bragging thread,a couple videos and my dyno chart:

My old thread Sean made for me:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...t=fpgreen+2.0l

A couple videos:

Lag due to leaky gasket.

The turbo was an 8cm 18g. 610 cfm

1. Bone stock ej205
2. No internal work
3. I put down just over 300 whp and 275 ft lbs on 92 octane. Altitude was pretty close to sea level, don't know the exact level. This was a stock calibration Mustang, and a very low reading dyno. A stock STI put down 235 whp, stage 2 put down around 260 whp, my protuned stage 2 WRX put down 203whp, and a 7cm 18g without meth put down 270 whp a few days before me. Full boost was right at 4k, made power all the way to redline. Pretty conservative tune. Peak boost was 19psi.
4. Sorry, never been to the track.
5. Anyone who says anything about lag hasn't driven a bigger turbo for any extended period of time. Boost threshhold and lag are very different things. If I punch it at 2k rpms obviously it takes a couple of seconds to make much in the way of power. However, if I'm at 4 grand and I punch it there is very little delay to full boost. Anyone who says that they're small turbo will whoop a bigger turbo because of lag doesn't know how to drive a big turbo right, IMO. If you aren't making power it means you're at the wrong RPM and need to shift. Maybe if we're both in 4th gear and do a 30mph pull you'll beat me to about 45, but if I shift to second buhbye. I went from stage 2 to this and honestly it wasn't much of a change. Cruising on the freeway and driving around town isn't bad at all. I make enough torque between 2k and 3k to make everything easy. I get great gas mileage. When I want power it's there in a big way, but for the most part it's like stock. I daily drive this car, and have for the last 10k miles with the 18g. I love it now more than ever. I've even been driving it in some serious snow lately and it's done better than I could've ever hoped.

Best advice i would say is get a good catch can and stay up on how your car is doing. Mine like 24psi, that was is 25 it had some blow by. 24 it was happy.
When i got the 18g i beat the living piss out the car but i had the oil changed every 2500 miles, since it was oil cooled only turbo.

2. Stock Internals

3. Sorry never scanned the graphs. But on TopSpeeds' Jet it ran 354 and 315tq was the final numbers. 93 pump with Snow's Boost Juice 50/50 Meth. This was a very conservative tune. I was afraid at the time to blow her up. My WB o2 sits at 10.9-11.2 with meth, only 19-20psi, and timing in the low 20s.

Once the "Big MAF" goes on next week i will be, going for broke, running 24 psi 75% meth leaning it to 11.6. Then i will throw it on the local Mustang and post graphs then.

4. Only trap ever was at 109.
Side note: Cutting up horribly at import face off (cold, elevation, maxed maf). Started getting cold and maxing out the MAF which lead knock on top end = pulled timing = slow time. I thought the car was going to assplode but i wanted one pass.

5. Honestly this is my 4th turbo (monster port td04, vf39, vf34) and by far the best all around turbo i've owned. Of course it's laggier than a 16g really when driving you're not really able to tell.....well except on the big end. Just move you shift point a couple hundred rpms you won't notice. You still have some boost in the lower to move you in traffic and 5-6 psi on a 20g is not the same as on your 04.
Never heard a single person who drove my car complain. But, everybody loves to take rides in it. If you have the money to do your tranny right (ie. not RA's) get a bigger turbo you'll never regret it.

The 205 is a lot stouter than it gets credit for. It takes a good amount of punishment. I have been over close to or over 300whp for over 2+ years 335+ for a year and few months. 40k+ miles of punishment and has yet to hiccup.
Comes down to the tune.
