crack on wheel!!!!

i just bought a set of winter rims and along the inside lip is a crack,i went to a welding shop and they said it would cost 65!!!i got the set of four for 150,so i don't really feel like spending 65 to fix a wheel!!!any other solutions??

You get what you pay for.
Either get the wheel fixed, or risk it grenading on the highway potentially killing you and your passengers.

There are no other options outside of repairing or replacing that wheel.

65 bucks aint bad. thats cheaper than buying a wheel last time i checked.

i wouldnt trust a rewelded wheel. its going to fail again.

I read somewhere a weld will sometimes make the wheel weaker.

If it is something common, like an OE wheel, you might find a replacement in the classifieds.

While I agree with you in part, a well repaired wheel will be strong.
I probably wouldn't take it on a jump laden rally with me, but for street use, it's not too bad.

I've actually had to repair a Rota before. It was in an accident, and the Nasioc seller didn't tell me about it. He ended up making good on the repair cost, and $125 later, our local wheel shop fixed it like new. They have hundreds of wheels at any given time, from oem stuff from the expensive Euro's to aftermarket, refinishing, etc.

I sure wouldn't take it to any welder though, as these guys have the tooling and knowledge to fix a wheel. Only select few have the tools, and the skill to do it right.

I've done more than my share of welding in the past. $65 is not too much to pay for a decent repair. It strikes me that if you can't afford a repair like that, maybe you shouldn't be driving until you can afford to maintain your car. What else are you skimping on?

thanks for all the advice,looks like i will be spending the 65$ to fix the crack since the seller sent me the money!!!
